Yea i posted this up on goff's blog, it was posted a couple weeks back on La Razon one of BOlivias biggest Newspapers. I am sure this has to do with Bolivar's deeper pockets with the backing of Multi-millionaire Marcelo Claure whos goal is to make Bolivar more high profile as they are also partners with Barcelona of Spain apparently also.

At this point i hope both sides can learn from thier mistakes, i wouldnt mind seeing a couple of bolivar players say loaned out to DC, but beyond that i doubt that would happen.
All i see coming out of this is bolivar coming to train/play DC and same goes with DC to La Paz for altitude training.

I haven't read Goff today, but given all the hype Bolivar was stirring while I was in La Paz this summer (winter for you North Americans), and no substance, I doubt it will happen.
Of course, Goff may have written today "United signs deal" and I will then be sticking my proverbial foot in my proverbial mouth. However, as long as it isn't The Strongest, it seems like a good idea to me.

I think we've expanded our scouting network with the Brazilian club plus they've supplied us with several trialists. Of course, we haven't signed any of them. What I'd like to see is for us to loan players like Dyachenko and others who need that extra push to them. I guess the problem is tha Dyachenko isn't good enough to get any PT for a club like Bolivar.

*This just in from DCU (yawn -- can someone explain the purpose of these "strategic partnerships"?):
D.C. United will hold a press conference Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. to announce the club's new strategic partnership with Club Bolívar of La Paz, Bolivia. United General Manager Dave Kasper, Bolívar President Marcelo Claure, former United and Bolívar midfielder Marco Etcheverry and United forward Jaime Moreno will address members of the media at Tutto Bene Restaurant in Arlington, Va.
:p
I just hope this can result to something, and relpace the tie Tahuichi had at one point with the MLS and hopefully we can find some Gems in bolivia to train with our side and grow up into the next Etchverrys or Morenos, freds, etc.

I think dyachenko could do decent in La Paz playing for bolivar, or at least training with them. Watching them play this year their big problem is not touch, vision, or skills with the ball, it is FITNESS! I think Dyachenko could learn a thing or two training with them when it comes to better control, vision, etc. but they need help on fitness. Alot of the players they bought this year are out of shape but all came from big teams, for instance like their number 10 right now, colombian who brought greatness to his ex team once caldas(beat Boca to win the Copa Lib. in 2004), if you do a youtube search on him you'd see how great he used to be. Fact is hes got a big beer belly now and most of the bolivians need to learn a thing or two on better nutrition and training. Something i think DC can help them learn, and we can learn a thing or two from their style of play as far as our youth goes, with drills on touch, crossing, triangulation passing, etc. Bolivian style of coaching, shit i went through when i was younger lol.
Don't tell Chico. ;)
HAHA. Im sure he's dying a little bit inside right now.

I'd like to think of them more so like DC of the bolivian league right now, alot of "big" signings, big money backing by Claure but nothing much proven yet so far this season.
I would love to have Escobar right now for us also say maybe playing a little up top, he is comparable to Gomez.
I think what would be cool is if our DC squad can go to La Paz and get some high altitude training to get on their fitness say next year before the finals of the Concacaf CHamp. League if we make it that far.
High altitude traiing i think would be something cool to expirment with.

A) Dying laughing :D
B) No need to insult United
C) Escobar plays for The Strongest
Bolivar has tried everything else, now it's this George Steinbrenner type owner to try and buy himself a trip to Libertadores. Can't blame him in trying to expand the name. Maybe if we can swap some youngsters in training both sides will benefit. Problem is Bolivar has sucked the last few years and have no clear youth plan. But the Bolivian league is bleeding money so our best go to Brazil, Argentina or the Middle east at a young age. Not much leftover to grow at home.

Hahahaha. The part that i think is funny is etch' nor moreno played for the strongest, and the ONE player that DID play for DC, and DID play for the Strongest was your homeboy, Juan Berthy 'Chicho' Suarez... LOL
And we all know how hilarious and short his time here in the states was for us...
But yea i just brought up Escobar because the strongest were being talked about and he's the one player for them i can think of that would be great for united, and is comparable to Gomez.
But your right on the youth part, Tahuichi is the best setup school along with Milton Melgar's youth acadamy setup to make good youth players, with good setup plans and teams, and structure all around.
Hopefully BOLIVAR can take something from our organized side, as Claure and Loyaza(sp) were the 2 guys that basically along with Azkergorta who brought bolivia to the 94' WC. With how they sent them to a retreat in Spain to build confidence and bonding between players and staff maybe they could pull this off in la paz next off season and also to do some high altitude training many pro boxers, MMA fighters, athletes, etc. expirment.
All in all i hope to see this improve both sides as i will admit Bolivar hasnt been the same since Mario Mercado died in 95. He was the class of our team and brought the big names to us. Hopefully Claure could be the next him.
VIVA DC y BOLIVAR C-A-R-A-J-O!!
P.S. i will be at this press confrence thingy most likely, so if you see a bolivian guy with a plain black T-Shirt and some Baby Blue Soccer shorts and Socks(got a game at 9pm tommorow night :p) Say wats up.

I'm pretty darn sure DC is just trying to attract a filthy rich investor. I don't see how this could benefit either team. I'm sure other Variables will be mentioned, but this one is the main one I think.

Has Bolivia restocked its national team pool the last few years so that there might be enough players there worth having here or is it still as bleak as it was a few years ago, post Marco and Sanchez, etc...?

We have some great young talent like Juan Carlos Arce and Marcelo Moreno but they're not in the league. All our young talent bolts at an early age. Arce would've been a great pick up for DC. I don't understand how he was never on DC's radar.
Here are two beauties from Marcelo Moreno, check 'em out...

Hmm... that could be a possibility, but to not give any credit to being a genius and a good soccer brain on him would be wrong and just to look at him for his money. This guy knows something about the game, business, making things work, Although it isnt showing much with Bolivar's crappy performance lately, he did bring bolivia to the WC in 94'. He did put together a good coach with some veteran and hungry youngsters to make a damn good team.
Him and Loayza(sp) were the brains behind all of that, i dunno if you guys knew or not.
Also what he did with his business and how he made it from the ground up is nothing short of genius.
I just hope he can get bolivar back to its greatness.

No not so much, i am sure there is TON of talented youngsters, many on the streets just playing or being bad kids. But we cannot channel these hood' soccer players that Argentina has like The Tevez's, and many hood kids that came frmo bad neighborhoods and played for the youth structured squads for big teams like boca.
Bolivar lacks this, as does many Bolivian teams. The true Talent spotters was basically just 1 school, who for their credit have produced bolivia's greatest talents. Everyone knows Tahuichi, but the sad thing is they are the only really established spot, who know since the death of the founder and his son i hear are having alot of trouble financially and having trouble keeping a good school with good coaches to stay competitive.
Milton melgar's schoool(one of bolivias greatest bolivian number 10s) is the next tahuichi that has schools i believe in argentina and Bolivia, along with some tie to a school in Indiana i think???
IMO this is what is lacking too here in the US. Bolivar should make a tie with a youth side here like Pachuca is doing as Goff Stated recently.
