I hesitated in making a new one, but wasn't sure if the promotion discussion would continue.

I don't think we will need a new one until they are in camp again.

To get back to the question in the old thread, regarding Daum and whether he should stay or not...

He has a contract till 2010, but the option to quit every other 6 months. In my opinion Daum was one of the main reasons we got promoted. And in my opinion he should stay and I am almost certain that he will.

That`s Meier. Don`t forget he also was the one who forgot to pull the option
on Helmes contract on time. i still get this massive headache when I think about it.

In his defence, i don`t think Daum would have signed without this option.

He has a contract till 2010, but the option to quit every other 6 months. In my opinion Daum was one of the main reasons we got promoted. And in my opinion he should stay and I am almost certain that he will.

makes me think that perhaps the whole discussion is house made by the media. Daum has a contract that still runs why even discuss it.

I want Daum to stay because:

1. we won`t get anyone better. Good coaches are rare. Think about how many teams are looking for a new coach and can`t find one who is good enough.
Think about it, U. Hoeneß hired klinnsmann because of lack of options. never seen that one coming.
Daum is the best we can get.

2. He did good work. Even though this season was filled with ups and downs
we still got promoted and in the end the team showed how good they can play.
Just consider the enormous pressure he had to fight with.
If we wouldn`t have made it this year,our budget would have been shortened and we would have been doomed to become a second 1860.
The public pressure on the FC is way higher than on teams like Hoffenheim where no one really expected them to get up in the first 2.Liga season.
(Which is imo one of the reasons why Hoffenheim is in such a good position right noew)

In adition to that 98% of the FC Fans suffer from manic depressions.

3. Aside from the panic buys in the winterbreak last season, i can`t think of
a single player he contracted where I couldn`t at least see the possibilities
that they might become good players. A massive step ahead conidering our awful contracting record int the past.

Very good arguments in favor of Daum.

Meier on the other hand makes me feel ill. We need to find a new striker - will Podolski come back? Will we find a foreign player to pair with Novagol?

So many questions....

The first transfers for the new season:
Miso Brecko (defence, 24 years old, 14 caps for Slovenia, now Hamburger SV) und Daniel Brosinski (winger, 19 years old, 4 caps for Germany's U20, now Karlsruher SC). No transfer fee and a three-year contract for both of them.

I think Poldi ist wishful thinking. Bayern already sold Schlaudraff and they need a third striker. Also Stuttgart is propably going to lose Gomez in the summer break and Poldi is a likely substitute.

According to the HSV board Brecko seems to be a solid player that is able to put in the one or the other cross. He only played a couple of games but when he played he did quite well. In the end he got replaced by Boateng who was younger and more versatile.

According to KSC fans, Brosinski was one of the best in their Regionalliga team and they think the KSC is making a mistake by letting him go.

2 new wingers.
Doesn`t sound to bad. We were always lucky with U21 and U20 players, and Brosinski seems to be talented.

Today Bild wrote that Daum will go and the FC is already searching a new coach meanwhile the Express wrote that he will definitively stay.

Well it looks like Daum is going to stay.
He said that he wants to stay but that the club needs to do some structual changes to become more succesful.

Sounds good to me. I think some structual changes are more than overdue.

Also it seems like the FC is interested in Schalke`s Zlatan Bajramovic
and there are rumors about Babarez who are hopefully untrue.

:D and some good news, we are getting another half a million euros for Poldi because Bayern is Meister

it looks like Helmes, Alpay, Dieter Paucken, Salvatore Gambino, Kevin Schöneberg and Suazo are going to leave the club.

It doesn`t look to good for Mitreski and Andre either.

The FC wants to get (in addition to Brecko and brosinski)
1 defender
1 leftback
1 defending midfielder
1 right midfielder
2 Strikers
