I just found out my brother is moving to Koln for a few months this fall, and I hope to go visit him. I tried to look around for the Bundesliga schedule, but have not been able to find it. Could anyone point me to the 08-09 schedule? Thanks.

in German, date and times to be determined (http://www.fc-koeln.de/index.php?id=1590)

The earlier you try to buy your tickets, the better. Many games will be sold out because half of the crowd (25.000) are season ticket holders. Good luck!

Well, the acta Podolski is closed I guess. Bayern stated categorically that he won't be allowed to leave. The only thing that could change matters is Mario Gomez going to Bayern, but Stuttgart's manager ruled this out.

I know nothing about our new Brazilian player. In the video on fc-koeln.de he's said to have been voted best defender of the Portuguese league. Is he that good? Centre back, right?

If the Podolski rumours come to nothing, we really need to look somewhere else for a good striker. Unfortunaletly, Klasnic seems to be headed for Mallorca.

Ishiaku isn't good enough for you guys? He did have 10 goals last season for a very sorry Duisburg team......

Ishiaku would be geat . The question is how much does Duisburg want fo him? His stats in Belgium aren`t nearly as impressive as his BL ones.
So there is the danger that he might be a one season wonder. Right now it seems like Duisburg wants 2 000 000- 2 500 0000 which is a bit much for a striker that had only one good season.

I somehow got this feeling that we will miss out on all interesting strikers the BL
transfer market has to offer (simply because they are just to expensive) and will get our strikers from foreign leagues.

hmmm, I am not sure about Ishiaku, he might have scored 10 goals within 25 matches - but he should be the Helmes replacement ?
Ishiaku is a central forward, just like Nova and to me he could act as a Nova backup, but not more...

...but the Poldi deal is still not over and done with. Wouldn't it rock if Poldi plays on Jul 26th first half for Munich and after halftime he is coming back in a Cologne jersey and then they announce that our Prince is back ? :D

I love Poldi but I have to say that the deal is over. If Bayern doesn`t want to sell him, they won`t. And it´s not like we can raise our offer to weaken their defences since we will already struggle to come up with the money they initially wanted.

We need to get over him and concentrate on more realistic solutions.

Dude. Who do you think you are? You expect to get a striker who has had more than one good FIRST Bundesliga season for that amount of money?

Amazing how a fan of a SECOND Bundesliga promotee can look down his nose at a guy who just scored ten goals and would have had more if not for injuries in the FIRST Bundesliga.

You will also pay more than that for any foreign striker who will do anything in the FIRST Bundesliga.

I keep writing FIRST and SECOND in caps because it seems to me, you don't remember where you are coming from.

Wait. Ishiaku a Novakovic BACKUP?! Dude, you need to put down the crack pipe. Those drugs you must be on are really starting to show.

Again, Ishiaku at least had ten goals in the FIRST BUNDESLIGA! You really think Novakovic is going to put up the same numbers in the FIRST BUNDESLIGA that he did in the SECOND BUNDESLIGA??!!

If you want to see how SECOND BUNDESLIGA goal-scoring kings deal in the FIRST BUNDESLIGA, just look at Giovanni Federico's numbers from last season.

You'd better get your noses out of the air. There aren't going to be any Paderborns, Offenbachs, Aues or even 1860 Munichs, Greuther Fuerths or FC Augsburgs on your schedule next season.

YOU are going to be the guys people will point to and wonder whether or not they can start some of their bench players against you.

I HOPE you guys are next season's KSC. However, the fact of the matter is, you'll most likely be in the relegation battle. I don't see how you can turn your freakin' noses up at a player like Ishiaku.

But I do have a better suggestion than Ishiaku.

Ask Schalke for Halil Altintop or Soeren Larsen. Even on loan.......

He's good, it's just that the deal isn't done yet. If we can sign him, that's fine with me (although I would have preferred Poldi or Klasnic to be honest).

I hope there's still some money left to sign one or two good midfielders - preferably experienced ones.

Well the problem is that he had only one good season in the BL where he scored 10 goals in 25 games. In his last 2 Seasons in Brügge he scored
11 goals in 45 matches. In addition to that he seems to be injury prone.
Which is not good considering how few strikers we have.

In the last couple of years we had many strikers like Madsen, Szabic, Reich or Donkov that had one good season and seemed to be promising and then turned out to be below average. So I am not so easily impressed by one good season.

and over 2mio for a player that tends to be injury prone, has great fluctuations in his perfomances (if you look at his kicker grades) and might turn out to be a one season wonder is a bit much for me.

For us 2 Mio is a lot of money. Our most expensive transfer ever was 3 Mio and turned out to be a super flop.
Perhaps we can negotiate a transfer fee that is performance linked then I would be more than willing to pay that much

considering how bad our scouting division is, the propabillity that we will
sign a good striker from a lower international league is unfortunately near zero.

Perhaps we should call Latour if he has another tip for us.

Yeah. You really need to put down the crack pipe man. LOL!!

If you compare emotions and feelings with crack - then yeah, I am on crack then!

Let me put it this way: Nova is a central striker, Ishiaku is a central striker. They both play alike - waiting up in front for the ball to come. Both do not work a lot for the teams defence. Look at Helmes how much he was running / working for the team. In this reagrds Ishiaku cannot be the Helmes replacement. And believe me, Nova will score his 10-15 goals in the first bundesliga as well. As cookiely said, Ishiaku is also known to be injured easily.

We got promoted, because we had a great striker duo for the second bundesliga. And our strikers would have been enough for the first league as well!
How can we win relegation in the first league with less quality?

I doubt that we will be the next KSC. The KSC was a team meanwhile we had games last season where you couldn`t help but wonder if this guys had ever played together. In the end indiviual class got us promoted, but what was class in the second league will only be average in the first.

For some reason I am not really optimistic about this season.
The other BL clubs have advanced so much in the last 2 years.
The other teams that got promoted with also seem to be farther than us.
Gladbach has the talent and Hoffenheim has the money.

Perhaps because of that I am a bit more careful when it comes to spending money, i fear that we will spend millions on new players, still get relegated and then end up like 1860 or Lautern.

The rumor that he failed the medical check tells me already in what a 'good' shape Ishiaku must have been....

Well his goals look nice. And he seems to have a good Technik.
And it would be good to have a striker that now and then scores with his head.
Is his style of play very simiar to Novas?

How much work does he do? Is he standing in the box all the time and waits for the pass or does he help in the midfield or in the defence too?

A medical check with who?? There hasn't been a deal with anyone for him to undergo any medical checks.

And the key word in your response is "rumor."

If you're going to accuse a player of something like that, at least have facts man.

Duisburg wants the money he's worth, but they will also be happy to bring him back. The way their roster is looking right now, I don't see them winning promotion without him.

He moves better and is much more athletic than Novakovic. Novakovic seems to have the better "nose" for goal.

But then again, Ishiaku dealt with 1st Bundesliga competition, Novakovic has not.

Duisburg didn't require him to do that much. They just wanted him to score.

But I do know in matches against the "bigger clubs", he did get back to help out in midfield.

Thanks for calling me a liar. Ishiaku had the medical check at cologne already, it's not something I made up. Here are your 'facts' - and every rumor has something true to it.... Or can you explain why Ishiaku had his medical check on Tuesday or Wednesday at Cologne and has no contract yet ? Maybe he didn't fail it, but maybe they noticed something that needs to be checked deeper...

Bild, Jul 2nd
