This is a season review thread where everyone can post their ideas/general thoughts about their club’s 2007/8 season - emphasizing on the following:

Overall grade & why: A-B-C-D-F

This may be a little premature for fans of Man U, Chelsea, Fulham, Reading, and Birmingham as their seasons will go down to the wire. Obviously some categories like ‘season high point’ & ‘best team performance’ may overlap but these are just some general topics I thought of. Anyhoo… I’m interested to hear what fellow fans think so post away….

Although we didn't win anything, I think Liverpool's season turned out as a B+, although it's hard to me to convince myself because we didn't get any silverware.

In the end, 30 goals for Torres and Gerrard combining with him leaves a mouthwatering combination this August.

One thing I think you need to add is consistency, because the inconsistent performance was what hurt us the most.

A-, as we performed very well considering the managerial change but we did not win the league
Best player: Joe Cole, but Ballack and Carvalho are not far behind
Best new signing: Belletti even though he fizzled towards the end. Might've been Alex if he'd played more.
Best hope for next season/young gun: Scott Sinclair. If we play him, we will win.
Most disappointing player: Florent Malouda. French player of the year to just plain awful for us.
Best goal: Belletti's which won GOTY for the club.
Season high point: Beating United!
Season low point: 2-0 loss to Villa.
Best team performance: Beating United!
Worst team performance: Losing to Arsenal
Outlook for next season: We're gonna win the league if we get a better manager and a decent winger and a striker.
Anything additional: Congrats to United on winning the league. They deserved it more than we did.

Season high point: 4-1 away at Spurs
Season low point: Loosing at Derby
Best team performance: 4-1 at Spurs
Worst team performance: Man Utd home and away
Outlook for next season: In the UEFA cup mix with Villa, Everton and Pompy
Anything additional: Keegan out! :p

Best new signing: Super Johnny Woodgate. If not him, then Bale.
Best hope for next season/young gun: Luka Modric
Most disappointing player: Aaron Lennon
Best goal: Keane's leveler against Chelsea in the 4-4 game
Season high point: League Cup
Season low point: Every game after the League Cup

Now that we are done here goes... I've only dealt with the Premiership here.

Overall grade & why: B+
We might have won the league but we did not play particularly well. The defense was good throughout despite the loss of Neville for the entire season and that is reflected by only conceding 22 goals all season (best in the league). The midfield was hit with a lot of injuries and was disjointed for most of the season as a direct result. The attack, Ronaldo aside, also suffered from injuries, fitness problems and poor finishing at times. We might have led the league with 80 goals despite not having a natural striker but it was a poor return for the chances created. As late as February/March we were asking on our board when things would finally click but unfortunately those games were a rare occurrence this season.

Best player:
Ronaldo might have led the scoring and broken or equaled records but Ferdinand was just as consistent at the back and our defense is often forgotten in these discussions. In many ways I am tempted to go for him because it was our defense that kept things going at the start of the season. Either player would be a worthy winner depending on how you view things. At this point I am not sure.

Best new signing:
We signed Tevez, Nani, Anderson and Hargreaves this season. All of them have had an impact in one way or another but Tevez wins it for me. He's not had a summer off for years and had no pre-season but was thrown straight into the team and has ran himself into the ground, scoring some crucial goals in the process. I cannot wait to see a fully rested Tevez and Rooney next season.

Best hope for next season/young gun:
Assuming our youngsters are sent out on loan next season it leaves Nani and Anderson. Nani has the end product but is inconsistent while Anderson has surprisingly shown that he has an all-round game but in doing so we have not seen much of his obvious offensive talents. With Giggs a year older or perhaps retired then I would hope for Nani to make more of an impact as he matures and gets more consistent. On his day he is unplayable (ask Arsenal).

Most disappointing player:
Saha, yet again. From those that actually played then Giggs. Too many disappointing games from his this season. It's sad to see him on the way out.

Best goal:
Nani versus Middlesbrough.

Season high point:
Beating Liverpool. Twice. As expected.

Season low point:
Man City. Twice.

Best team performance:
Probably the last Aston Villa match.

Worst team performance:
The second Man City match.

Outlook for next season:
A new striker coupled with a fully fit Tevez/Rooney, a season wiser Nani/Anderson and a wildcard in Manucho. Looking good. Hopefully we can play better throughout though.

Anything additional:
Not really.

Overall grade & why: A
I like Teso and i can see why he only gave us a B+. But IMO, we've done what we set out to do at the start of the season; win the league. We have had the best attack and defense in the league this season and played the most entertaining football (Arsenal? Ha ha you're having a giraffe).

Best player:
Comes down to a straight choice between Ronaldo and Ferdinand. I'm gonna go with Ronaldo, but Rio is damn close.

Best new signing:
Tevez for me.

Best hope for next season/young gun:
Anderson-son-son. Though Nani could be the next big thing at United. I can't wait to see how they both perform next season.

Most disappointing player:
You have to ask? Saha without a shadow of a doubt. Seriously the guy has to go in the summer.

Best goal:
Dunno, I cant think of the top of me head. Scholes' goal against Barca was pretty good.

Season high point:
Beating Scumpool twice, beating Barcelona in the Champs League semi's and beating Wigan on the final day to secure the league title. I can't single one of those out. Oh and crushing Arsenal in the FA Cup. Ah the memories. :D

Season low point:
Losing to Man City at home. Losing to them is bad enough anyway, but to lose on the day we were commemorating Munich just rubs salt in the wounds. Damn, i'm angry thinking about it. I hope we crush them next season.

Best team performance:
Again i can't think. I'll go with the stuffing of Arsenal in the FA Cup.

Worst team performance:
The Man City game at OT. For the reasons mentioned earlier.

Outlook for next season:
Very bright. We are already the best team in Europe IMO and if we sell Saha and bring in another striker, we'll carry on being successful.

Anything additional:
Yeah. Full steam ahead Moscow!

Overall grade & why: B

In terms of points we were closer to the top than last season, but too many drawn games (13 of them). Hopefully something that will change next season .. but thats another thread.

Best player: Fernando Torres. Just can't go past him, 33 goals in his first season (24 in his debut season in the prem, breaking the record of RVN).

Best new signing: Fernando Torres, read ^ :).. was so stoaked when we got him last year, it just felt right him playing for this club. (I'd always transfer him to Liverpool on console game :P)

Best hope for next season/young gun: Ryab Babel, hopefuly he can build on his experiences from this season. If all goes according to plan, he is a big part of the future of this club. Hopefully more of the same from Torres and a 100% fit Daniel Agger.

Most disappointing player: This was actually a very hard choice, but for me Riise.. because to find many positives from his performances this season.

Best goal: Fernando Torres vs Inter Milan at the San Siro.

Season high point: 'Trilogy week' with Arsenal. Two draws at the Emirates and a win at home in the of the most intense games of the season.

Season low point: Barsnley at home.

Best team performance: Marsielle away (won 0-4)

Worst team performance: Barnsley at home (lost 0-1)

Outlook for next season: Hoping we can further improve in the league...
Ended up finishing 11 points behind Man United this season, while we finished 21 points behind them last season. Of course signing new players will have a part to play, so at the moment I don't want to say much. I'm sure you understand though, with Tom & Jerry who knows whats going to happen.

Anything additional: At this moment, no :)

Overall grade & why: B. A lot of people and pundits had us down as a yo-yo club. We were told we were not going to perform in the league with the UEFA Cup distraction. How wrong they were. We got to a Semi-final of a competition. Cruely beaten on pens in the UEFA Cup. A competition were we were beaten once out of ten games. We pushed Liverpool for 4th place. Only to fall after the Derby. The finished 'best of the rest'. That's good enough for me.

Best player: Joleon Lescott. Amazing. 10 goal return for a defender is nothing shirt of startling in todays game. Added with the fact he is a superb defender. Top class player.

Best new signing: One of three really. Steven Pienaar has been very good. First season in the Prem and has 14 assists to his name. Adds flair and fluency to our game. Alright it was a loan deal but still a signing. An abolsute bargain at £2 million.

Yakubu, finisher. Best finisher I have personally seen at the club. Said he would get 20 goals this season and delivered with 21. May not be the hardest working team player but give him a sniff and he will be reeling away.

Phil Jagielka. Slow start. Moyes didn't know where to put him. Tried him at right back and he was OK, but nothing special. Yobo going to the African Nations was the best news for Jags as it allowed him to start at centre half and he has been a rock.

Best hope for next season/young gun: Victor Anichebe. Despite what some Evertonians may say I think he has more potential that James 'Injury' Vaughan.

Most disappointing player: Mikel Arteta. Dreadful by his standards.

Best goal: Leon Osman vs Larissa in the UEFA Cup. That, or Yakubu vs Chelsea in the Carling Cup for absolute madness.

Season high point: Topping our UEFA Cup group with maximum points.

Season low point: Defeat in the FA Cup to Oldham Athletic.

Best team performance: Manchester City 0 - 2 Everton. Only Arsenal had beaten them at the CoMS and we went there and won with ease.

Worst team performance: Everton 0 - 1 Oldham Athletic

Outlook for next season: Win something. And do well in Europe.

Anything additional:Realistically, for us to compete next season we need to spend. Tottenham can go out and splash money on big talents at thier will. we can't.
