Going to buy myself a Newcastle home jersey as a late birthday gift. Can't decide if I want to get Martins, Owen, or get it blank. I need to buy it before the end of the month though, so I can't wait until the end of the window.
Get it blank. Or Taylor.

Film of Newcastle United from 107 years ago. I'm fairly certain that Liverpool are wearing belts on their shorts. Newcastle probably are too, elastic was probably the dream of a mad man in those days. No numbers on the shirts and the keeper's wearing the same shirt as the rest of the team.
The ground looks a bit different these days, for one thing its in colour.

I'm not sure I follow you. Are you saying you think the WRITER of the article is the crazy one, not the screwed-up nutjobs at the AFA??

Did AFA exaggerate a little in saying McDonald's was "throwing its full corporate weight behind the homosexual agenda"? Sure.
But that doesn't give writer license to throw made-up quotes and indirectly attribute them to the organization itself (I assume they're made up because there is no attribution, nor link to said quotes). That's plain irresponsible "journalism" and representative of the wingnut (see the latest Merriam Dictionary inclusion) agenda right now.

Be that as it may, it still doesn't excuse connecting the dots when they aren't there to connect. And if you'll notice, the writer only pulled 10 or so of the hundreds or so comments for use in his article, which is another form of irresponsible "journalism," to promote his Christian-bashing left-wing agenda. Which leads me to my original conclusion that the guy is nuts, not the AFA. :)

Did you actually read any of the comments on that site, every single one is about how McDonalds is evil for promoting the "gay agenda" and how they are "disgusted"
He picked a select few from those several hundred since they happened to be the funniest and most extreme, yet every single one of those comments is disturbing in my eyes that people feel the need to boycott a corperation for simply supporting a group of people who are homosexual.
If you don't agree with homosexuals then thats your thing, run with it. But there is no need to voice it in such a way and with such hate.

You're continuing to draw me away from my point about the agenda being more nefarious than the boycott, so I'll simply agree to disagree. This is a discussion best left for the politics thread anyway, probably.

Why the time limit? Get JaredSS No. 7 put on it ;)
The time limit is because my wife technically owes me a birthday gift and we are approaching one month tardiness. More importantly, I was going to take advantage of the BigSoccer Facebook discount. Really though, it is only 10% and doesn't amount to much savings.
Maybe I will wait till we sign someone worth getting excited about. At the same time, I wouldn't want a shirt with someone's name on it who flops...

Your claimed agenda is that the author is trying to portray the conservative right in a negative light by picking selective quotes when infact all of the quotes on the site are of the same agenda.

There's no doubt it my mind that the quotations in that article are NOT made up. You can't make up that sort of sheer idiocy.

Silly quotations from that website:
"Since you are supporting same gender marriage instead traditional marriage you will no longer receive the business from my large family."
Yes, I'm sure your family is large. Verrry large. Will probably get smaller by not eating at McDonald's.
"No more McDonalds for my family at all. I will not and cannot support a company that seeks to destroy the traditional American family by the company it keeps. I hope McDonalds changes it ways soon!"
Yes, McDonalds is trying to destroy the tradition American family. Ugh...this is why these people are crazy.
In closing, the AFA can go screw themselves. In the butt!

I don't agree with the more inflammatory quotes there, but I don't think that it's in any way offensive for a Christian group to take a stand and boycott an organization that's clearly supporting something they believe is wrong, not only financially but by taking a seat on the gay/lesbian chamber of commerce or whatever. To me it's no different than my boycotting the local Safeway because their manager was a bitch to me.
A responsible journalist, as this blogger or whatever claims to be by publishing their works through not one but two media organizations now (Huffington Post and Yahoo! News), would have gone about it in a more balanced fashion, noting that not everyone in the camp feels that strongly about it, rather than just bashing the crap out of the Christian right and labeling them all a bunch of lunatics.
Of course, maybe because I generally identify myself with the Christian right, I'm just a lunatic as well. ;)

But why is it always the Christain right who act in such an intolerant way? You don't see Hindu's campaining for boycotts of McDonalds or Burger King because they use meat and the cow is a highly religious animal too them

No no no, the anti-McDonalds folk are the far Christian right. I know you're on the right, but not THAT far right.
I doubt you'll be boycotting McDonalds...unlike you're simply health-conscious.
Correct me if I'm wrong.

That'd be because McDonald's has an alternate menu in India, so as not to alienate itself from the population it serves. The Christian right is not afforded such consideration, for lack of a better term, and as such has it in its collective mind that it needs to be quasi-militant and take things like this head on. At any rate, it apparently offends you, it doesn't offend me very much, so we should agree to disagree.
And no, Jeff, I'm not going to boycott McD's simply because they're now "promoting the homosexual agenda" or whatnot. But I do need to drop about 40 pounds and this is as good an excuse as any to stop going... :p
