Karl Rove seriously uses twitter?
After 8 years of helping to erode civil liberties, losing one war, invading a sovereign nation for illegitimate reasons, outing a covert CIA agent, not catching Bin Laden, and helping orchestrate an unparalleled expansion of government spending, I'm sure he just wants to keep his followers updated on his next big catastrophe.

Unparalleled until last week's "stimulus" bill. </politics thread>

I want the MLS season to start just so I can go to a soccer game.

Alternatively, I want a couple thousand dollars so I can go to Newcastle or Munich.

Also, I want to go on a road trip. Ideally to Texas.

I'm stoked for this MLS season.

What's so great about it?

Note: I have a very rudimentary knowledge of Twitter.

I haven't decided for myself what is great about it. Some people love telling everyone what they are doing, some people think it builds relationships with people that would otherwise only talk business, and some people just want to stay in front of other people for marketing reasons. Lots of GOP bloggers and news organizations use it to broadcast updates.

Karl Rove seriously uses twitter?

Yup, mainly to tell people about his TV appearances and stuff. MC Hammer, Shaq, John Cleese, and Rainn Wilson (Dwight Schrute) are some of the people I recently found.

I hadn't heard of twitter until last week, went to the site, and I still don't know what the point of it is.

Basically just the status portion of facebook. You see what other people are doing and other people see what you are doing. You can direct message people and reply to people.
It was started as a way to blast txt your friends on weekends to let them know where the best shit was happening.

I really need to get on getting tickets to different matches here. Went past Eindhoven on my way down to Maastricht the other day and the stadium is huge, right next to the train station. I need to go up to Amsterdam for an Ajax trip as well.

And Gascoigne, oh my god haha.

Since when are you in Holland colin?

I got here at the end of January. Will be in Europe until August and probably in the Netherlands until June. I'll certainly be heading to Germany a few times!

Must be happy after yesterday's match huh?

Yeah, it was insane. Kinda takes the sting away from losing 0:4 at Zenit in the UEFA Cup last year.

What are you doing in Europe? Extended vacation? Studying? Be sure to visit the cathedral in Köln. I've never been, which is blasphemous for any German student. :(

Yeah, that match was awful. Couldn't believe how pedestrian Bayern were in that one.

Studying here and then travel when I'm done in June. So awesome, and so lucky :D

Although tough on the wallet haha.

Anyone here a web designer or have recent experience buying a new site? One of my clients needs a site built from scratch for a 501(c)4 and PAC she has started. What's the going rate for a new site these days... any ballpark figures? 1k, 5k, 15k, 50k?

Have you figured this out yet? I could ask someone I know here who is pretty well versed in all things computer.

Not really. I have a meeting with a web firm next week, but wanted to know if I was going to get raped by the 10k - 15k rate.

Why Texas? I lived there for 3+ years...it's not really that great. But then again, I am from the Bay Area, so Mountains, Ocean, tall trees, no "anger of God" weather, no 3 months of 100 degree days, was what I was used to.

I am just curious what about Texas is appealing to you?
