FIFA 09 vs Pro Evolution Soccer 2009
What should I buy? In the past, I have been a big fan of Winning Eleven, but heard FIFA really stepped it up in this version.
I'm a PES fan so have been playing that. Its worth getting just for the "Become a Legend" mode where you play as one player working your way up from reserves to well "becoming a legend". Its so addictive, I got it for my birthday and I'm starting my 6th season tonight.
Not played FIFA mind, but I was a big fan of WC98 back in the day. I have heard similar about it being good this year. What machine you buying for PC/Xbox/ps2/3?

Then I'd still recommend Pro Evo. I can't tell you how much fun the "Become a Legend" mode is. Of course its also frustrating, Martins never passes, the greedy bugger. I scored two against the Mackems last night, and for the first time in 6 seasons Newcastle are putting in a genuine title push. My goals could carry us to the title. :)
I've been playing it so much FM09 has barely gotton a look in.

Fifa 98 is/was the greatest game of all time. That's all I'm going to say about that.

Hey Russell, recently saw pics of Barton's girlfriend or ex. Is he still dating Amanda Harrington?

found her in a top 50 Soccer Wags list and didn't know how current it was. when I saw Amanda there listed as Barton's girlfriend, I couldn't believe it. How the hell could Barton nab that? Conversations.....yeah, she can talk about what ever the hell she wants to..............as long as she's in that Bikini.:D google the name....I promise you won't be disappointed.
Oh, and here are 2 links to some soccer WAG lists.

The second one is the one where I first spotted Amanda.

Seems like every time there is an article about excessive drinking and fighting... Newcastle gets a big shout out. Looks like Russell and Toon3 were busting heads and buying too many drinks for the ladies.
Boozy Britain's bloody New Year: A 999 call every seven seconds in alcohol-induced mayhem (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1103843/Boozy-Britains-bloody-New-Year-A-999-seven-seconds-alcohol-induced-mayhem.html)

Bloody hell... that guy in the picture at the top of the article seems a bit messed up.
I can't speak for Toon3 but it wasn't me guv.... Newcastle's not that bad for fighting. Unless you're in the Bigg Market. There is that joke about people not "paying in" to get into clubs, but "weighing in" though.
Did you decide between FIFA and Pro Evo in the end Jared?

I was in town but I didn't see any trouble at all. Had a bloody good time in Venue which seemed to have every 6th former in the Newcastle area in it.

I got PES on Boxing Day. Become a Legend is pretty awesome but I can't say the game is as amazing I used to think it was. I played alot of Winning Eleven 8 and 9 and parts of those games are better than PES09.

Can someone tell me why there is a forum to discuss Newcastle and a group page that also has discussion threads? Do we really need two different places (especially since they don't link and the menu nav is terrible)? What is the problem with keeping things simple?

It all dates back to the good old days when I ruled this forum with an iron fist and banhammer. Arsenal and Man Utd wanted NSR sub forums so I thought ******** them, we'll have one too and thus we have one.

Are you saying that was the beginning of the end?
I am fine with NSR... I am talking about this piece of crap: http://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/group.php?&groupid=686
Team pages are kinda cool, but why have a team page forum and regular one?

In answer to your question, I have no idea... I've wondered about that myself. The powers that be for the site have added extra features though. Can't see the point really. I even linked this board on the links of the fan page.
