Adelaide City coach Zoran Matic says the Force needs a white knight to come forward with $500,000 by Sunday or the national soccer league club won't make it to the starting blocks for the upcoming season.

Force president Bob D'Ottavi had claimed a Soccer Australia levy of $53,000 was the final straw - saying on Monday the club simply couldn't afford to be in the competition.

Matic indicated the situation was even more dire saying on Tuesday night a major benefactor would have to offer financial support at the weekend's annual general meeting or the Force would be back in the local Premier League.

"I'm not scared to say a lot of my rich friends say how much they love the club but when it comes down to it they never have any money to put in," said Matic, who estimates he's put in hundreds of thousands of dollars into the club over the years.

"We have been told there would be better days ahead but the better days have never come."

Matic said about $3.5 million had been lost by club directors over the past three years and the situation couldn't continue.

Well finally somebody other than me posts about Adelaide City's problem. Anyone who bothers to check this forum out can see that there is already a post about this but that doesn't matter because no one would bother to talk about it until now.

They people who "love" the club who are wealthy businessmen should pay up the 10 grand each and help a club U LOVE. If you don't well then you are spineless scrooges.

This is certainly not an Adelaide problem it is a NSL problem:

Soccer: Kingz face demand to pay on day

The Football Kingz, already facing a threat of legal action over non-payment of rent at Ericsson Stadium, could be forced to pay up front if they are to continue to play at the ground.

After a meeting between the stadium owners, the Auckland Regional Council, and Kingz director and chief executive Chris Turner yesterday, a joint media release suggested the dispute was headed for mediation.

Stadium director and ARC business director Jaine Lovell-Gadd said she had told Turner that he should pay the almost $60,000 owed in rent.

Do the Kingz have another venue option other than Ericsson?

Yarrow Stadium, And Westpac Trust Stadiums were venues in the past. They do have other venues but their main base is Ericsson. I thought they were heading to move to Wellington.

I think that Bob is bluffing, Adelaide will play on and will not do a Carlton and drop out mid season. They will do well. Sheesh they finished 3rd last season! Where is the support?
