blades are a nonsense gimmick that make no sense especially in firm ground environments. The closer a "blade" approximates a circular cross section, the better it is.

Can you elaborate? I can accept that blade-type cleats are best on soft turf where they can penetrate deep and then lift out easily, but why is that any less so on firm ground?

I grew up playing in Copas with round studs, but have been pretty happy with the quasi-bladed studs on the King Execs and more recently on the v1.08s. On firm to moderately soft ground, it seems to me that they dig-in better than round cleats and really allow me to push off laterally better. On really hard ground, they seem no worse than round studs.

And while I'm at it, let me add, about the v1.08s: yeah, they're loaded up with gimmicks (the transparent outsole, the carbon fiber sole plate, the crazy graphics, etc.), and I was really skeptical of them, having come up on Copas and, more recently, the pretty pure King Execs. --But they're a solid shoe despite their gimmicks.

They're really light, but phenomenally tough (the toe cap that people were concerned about doesn't affect your getting under the ball; but it sure does increase the durability). And the upper materials provide great touch. --Even the plasticky, top-most layer. It feels stiff initially, but I swear that the heat from your foot warms it up and makes it nearly as soft as kangaroo.

Plus, I play on artificial turf a lot (the newer stuff with the shredded rubber in-fill), and those fields will chew up a kangaroo leather shoe really quickly. That's why the v1.08s have been a great shoe for me, even though I always stuck with kangaroo leather in the past.

anyone who can say that they're only played with traxion style studs hasn't been playing too long, going back 7 or 8 years the only option was the rounded studs. They were never a problem in the past and I don't see why people complain about them now. I rotate between a pair of Predators and Konstrukts but when in doubt I break out my Copas b/c they are the most reliable boot of all time. I'm looking forward to picking up a pair of the new Kings.

Sorry for the rant but I can't stand some complaints

I'd be happy to answer any specific questions. There is much material here that should probably get its own thread.

On firm ground, there is no appreciable "digging in". High aspect ratio blades are ultimately going to be tougher on your feet, as the contact area will at times be smaller, therefore increasing local pressure on your feet.

Consider your statement that blades aid in lateral movement due to their geometry. If this is true, and I'm not saying it is, then one must conclude that this lateral improvement comes at the expense of forward/backward tractive performance. Why use shoes with this bias?

I suppose that if one must try bladed studs, best to do so on a hybrid arrangement such as the Legends.

Ohhh, that colourway looks great. Wonder if the blue on them though would keep that 'metalic' effect with wear?

I've been playing for 20+ years.

I said I prefer the traxion style blades.

Reading comprehension, learn it.

It's just a name.

Actually the word tricks implies that when you buy the boot you will be able to do insane tricks that will make everyone gasp, and you will be labeled 'Trix' by everyone you know.

I think they just made the boot a little flashier with the x-ray stuff, so its flashier and trickier, hence tricks.

Lol, black colourway. Hope I got the sizing right!

I'm UK 6 in vapors so a UK 6 in V1.08s should be right, right?
