UPDATE: Everton are believed to be in the pole position to acquire Marseille midfielder Modeste M'Bami, reports Setanta Sports.
ANALYSIS: Portsmouth and Manchester City are also believed to be interested in M'Bami, but Everton seems poised to make the strongest offer. Marseille have not given up on signing the Cameroon international, but at this point it seems unlikely that M'Bami and Marseille will reach an agreement.
