Germany has never lost in penalties
1976 Euro final.
Hoeness missed and Panenka scored to make a last German penalty academic.
Or else it'd have been 3 trophies in a row.
I am hoping for a Germany v/s Holland final.
I think that the likeliest is a Germany v/s Italy final though.

Almost all football fans think that Germany will reach the final.
They are the favorites I think.

Well, only in Germany many people think we won't even reach the quarters.
I'm pretty sure we will play in the quarters, but then you need luck to reach the next round so anything could happen. I would love to see Germany beats Italy in the final. In the last 50 years we were pretty even in the direct confrontations
5 german victories
7 draws
6 italian victories
but we never beat them in a competition! :( The highest success was a 0-0 draw in 1996, because they were out in group stage because of that result. ;)

I don't fancy Germany for this.
Croatia - Holland final with Croatia to win since we'll bottle it.

I liked Croatia's chances before the Eduardo injury. I think they'll have trouble scoring... Petric and Olic aren't exactly prolific scorers with the National Team and Ivan Klasnic has one kidney.
I think the only question mark with Germnay is their goalkeeper situation. Oliver Kahn is old and can sometimes be a liability, Jens Lehman has hardly played this season with Arsenal, and Timo Hildebrand has the ability to make fantastic saves but also has the ability to make some boneheaded plays (I also don't trust a goalkeeper with long hair))

I think petric, olic and klasnic will form a very dangerous three for the euros for croatia. Good thing the german defenders are used to playingwith them every week ;)

Kahn retired from the NT in 2006!
I agree with Hildebrand - I don't trust him. He also seems to have a nervous connection with the defenders.
Lehmann - although he hasn't played much for Arsenal, he current holds the record for consecutive goalless minutes for the NT (and still rolling). He's been very good every time he has played for Germany the past year. He is a commanding character around the box. He also has a very, very good connection with the defenders and they are very comfortable with him.

Not to mention Adler, Neuer and Rensing! Very promising goalkeepers, and we also have Enke, Wiese or Rost if anything terrible happens. :)

i say italy to win it, but
you never know, im greek , and i tell you, in greece we are all saying that
this greek team is the best of all time, we have an amazing core, that has added some fresh talent, namely, gekas, papadopoulos, samaras, ..they murdered their group,
and they have a light group. spain is overated, puyol has to step down, and Raul being
looked over is a mistake.

well in the context of the last 40-50 years, the last 8 aren't big.
anyway, you weren't even the target 'cos you should know me better by now!

Who cares - no England :(
Personally, I do. I think a Euro without England will be much more enjoyable -- no BS from the English-speaking press about how your boys are destined to win it this time.
Not to mention less likelihood of hooligan incidents.
Anyway, after 2004, who the hell is anyone to predict a winner. No one saw Greece coming...from my understanding, the Greek NT never even won a game in a major tournament before 2004.
So it's wide open. My short list in no particular order: France, Germany, Croatia, Greece (can't underestimate the genius of Rehhagel).
I'd like to put Italy on that list, but my gut tells me we're not going to make it past the quarters. Of course, I hope I am wrong.

I know, I was just teasing you. People do seem to forget though that for some strange reason the Germans have a rubbish recent track record at the Euro champs. I'm not saying that you're not one of the favourites - I am saying that you're not one of the overwhelming favourites. The only overwhelming favourite in my view is Italy. Unfortunately.

How come Italy are an overwhelming favourite?
I actually thought Germany was your big favourite for the euros, judging by everything you've written on the topic over the past year
Personally it's Germany,Italy and France. No overwhelming favourite.

If Toni and, hopefully, Del Piero stays on fire like they did in this season, I can see us go through the infamous Group of Death, but anyway the outcoming is pretty even. I don't see honestly Holland go through, they seems to me to have enough quality, but they aren't cohesive as a team. France can possibly go through, as they compensate the lack of managerial team with the strength of single players.
On the other side I can see Germany to do well, and I predict them in the final. I hope it will be Germany-Italy in the end.
I'm obviously biased.
