Latest news:
Bayer still thinks about a forward, Kohler still wants Jancker. The managers could not agree on him, a full transfer is excluded, a loan possible.

A future investment might be 19 year old Swedish forward Alex Farnerud from Bois Landskrona

Luckily some officials in Leverkusen use their brain. The Jancker matter was another try of Kohler to bring his beloved forward to Bayer. Augenthaler agreed to scout him, but Jancker only was a substitute player and now wants to keep his option for a new player until winter. Also Kaenzig doubted the transfer due to questionable fiscal and sporting reasons.

Sport Bild and Express (two giant sources, I know) claim that Bochum's Paul Freier signed a contract with Bayer for 2005. Reportedly Kaenzig tries to get him in 2004 as Schneider pushes his transfer to a foreign country.

How do they get players to sign up a season early?

Is against FIFA determinations I think, but it's done regularly by all clubs.

An officially confirmed rumour is that Bayer wants to loan Mikael Forssell from Chelsea FC for one season. They are one of fifteen teams (including Schalke and Gladbach) to bid for him, but Forssell likes Leverkusen as he already played in their youth team and just went to Chelsea as in England he was allowed to become pro a year earlier than in Germany. Other rumours say that he was already loaned to Birmingham though.

Sure I remember the Stern John stuff.

From the news today: Bayer and Forssell agreed to a deal and would have completed it until Chelsea changed their mind and wanted a four-months-loan in case that he is successful. Naturally Bayer did not agree (what moron club loans a player for the case that he is without success...)
