View Full Version : Official Hannover 96 thread (part III) [R]- RIP Robert Enke
Yeah, I'm kinda indifferent about it.
I think our midfield actually IS so bad that Simak would help us but in general I don't think it's a good move to take players back who left the club in their prime a few years ago.
Wouldn't take back Asamoah and I wouldn't want Merte to return in 8 years.
I think a lot of fans just felt really disappointed about how it all ended with 96 and Jan that they just want another try. It was not a nice and logical development like Merte and Werder, it was ugly. Most fans live in denial though. All his comments and actions were just his agent or the alcohol talking. He can't do no wrong in their eyes. Serioulsy, if you talk about Simak with most fans, they get this look in their eyes that you just know immediately that there's no point trying to convince them in a rational way that it may be not such a good idea.
Still crazy if you think about it that Bayer payed us 6.500.000 in 2002. That was big money back then. We'd be broke without the Simak and Merte money.
I'm going to spent the weekend in Berlin watching 96. Should be great. Going to post some pictures on monday hopefully.

So I shouldn't even bother following it tomorrow? :-D
It was a nice trip nevertheless.
First time ever seeing Berlin under sunny skies. It was almost too hot.
96 actually played surprisingly well but the next gameday will show if 96 is not as bad as everyone expected or if Hertha were just really really bad that day.
96 was way better than Hertha imo but if you can't score you don't deserve to win.
I also liked what I saw of Djakpa (can't believe kicker actually gave him the same rating as Cherundolo who must have had one of his worst game ever for 96). At least he tried something and has confidence in his technical abilities unlike Rausch. Props to Hecking for benching Rausch.
I still think giving Bruggink a new contract was the worst thing 96 could do. He's too slow, he doesn't move away from the ball, he doesn't defend but he's the central figure in 96's game so that's a big problem.
Signing Forssell obviously didn't pan out as well, he's almost as bad as Hanke. Watching these two is painful. Stajner at least tries but his last passes are always a catastrophe. We really need Schlaudraff or at least a player like him.
Apparently 96 just signed Didier Konan Ya from Rosenborg BK, an attacking mid/forward from Cote d'Ivoire. His stats are not too impressive but I hope after having no success with buying high profile players, he'll be a nice surprise just like Huszti.

Stuttgarter Zeitung reporting that Simak could well move to Hannover this week.
Simak is not coming = mass hysteria at the German 96 forum:

How boring. :D
Yeah that's us :-P
Dunno what to think. I wrote my thoughts about Simak earlier, but at the same time we need to get a better team together. Hopefully the rumours about Matthäus having met with Schmadtke are not true, that would be a worst case scenario, only worse would be Neuruhrer.
It would be soooo 96 though.
That exactly why I'm scared of getting rid of Hecking, the alternative might be even worse.

Agreed. Slomka would be good I think though. He knows the club, likes the city and is a competent coach if you ask me.
But he's also one of Hecking's best friends so he might not take the job.

'dolo looked solid, if unspectacular in today's US/Mexico game. I expect he's gassed though. 90 minutes at altitude in the smog of Mexico City is exhausting. Can't see him playing much this weekend.
You know, if we had a solid backup 96 have problem with that after this horrible game in Berlin but since Stevie seems to be the only player in the whole Bundesliga with a garantee to start every game he probably will be in the starting line-up against Mainz.

I know....I was thinking the same thing. But I can't imagine how hard it will be for him - flying all the way to Mexico and back, playing 3 games in 7 days, playing at altitude and playing in that smog. I hope he really worked on his conditioning this summer.
Guess what? Rosenthal is injured again.
Only 27.000 tickets have been sold so far for the first game of the season.
But I don't blame the fans. Things look worse than ever and the club increased tickets prices.
At least those are top of the league.
I'd gladly exchange 96's last few seasons with Nürnberg.
Yes, they were relegated but the also won the cup, got to play in Europe and celebrated a promotion.
96 is just terribly mediocre and boring.

Landon Donovan just tested positive for the swine flu. Hopefully 'dolo didn't pick it up from him. That's all we need - the whole team coming down with the flu at the same time.
Bad start to the season but to be honest they also have been very unlucky. Hertha should give us some of their luck.
Dominated in Berlin and today. They just need a little bit of luck and a healthy squad (unrealistic) and things won't look as bleak.
Djakpa was a very good buy (loan), he's been our best player. I also strongly disagree with his kicker rating against Berlin. That was not a 5. He was very active and showed some beautiful passes.
I'm so disgusted right now. The season just started and EVERYONE is injured.
HOW CAN THAT BE?
Schlaudraff
Vinicius
Rosenthal
Forssell
Rama
Chahed
Hanke
Pinto
Lala
Because of the fact that we have one of the smallest Bundesliga rosters we can hardly field a full team.
Our healthy midfielders are: Krzynowek, Balitsch, Zizzo, Bruggink
RIDICULOUS.
To go into a Bundesliga season with just one creative midfielder is stupid anyhow and if that one is Arnold freaking Bruggink then it's gets unbelivably stupid.
Don't ge me started on the RB situtation.
Argghhhhh....

If that guy is your "best player", I really feel sorry for you.
