Thought I would get some thoughts from you guys on my knee. Last night I plented my left leg and it felt like something gave a little bit. I stood up and it hurt really bad as I locked my knee and could not hold the weight. I walked around for a bit and it felt better. I probably shouldn't have but I finished out the game with just a little discomfort.

I iced it for a couple hours before I went to bed. I don't have any noticeable swelling that I can see right now. I can walk on it and put weight on it without any extra pain. It is a little uncomfortable when sitting but not much.

I can't really lock the knee without pain and it hurts if I straightens out with weight on it. In fact if I try to straighten it out completely without weight on it it hurts. I have almost full mobility but just can't quite lock it.

The obvious answer is I need to go to the doctor and have them look at it. Unfortunately I am without health insurance right now. I was thinking I would give it a day or two and see how it felt before I decided to go to the doctor. Like I said I'm able to walk on it and I don't think it's swollen. It just worries me that I have trouble straightening it completely and the way it felt like something gave way when it happened worries me.

thoughts?

hhmmm not too many thoughts

one thing I was wondering is do I continue to ice it a day later? or do I start alternating heat and ice?

also my grammar and spelling suck.

Responding to your question, you're best off alternating heat and ice for the first 72 hours. That's how I got most of the swelling to disappear 2nd time I dislocated my knee. It was almost down to a normal level in a week.

I tore my ACL & ripped a tendon last year playing soccer. I know when it happened because I heard a pop.

I just tweaked it. It would be completely healed now I'm sure but I keep playing on it. It's sore for a couple days after I play then by the time it's time to play again it feels pretty good. I'm going to take a couple weeks off before I end up doing some really serious damage. I'm like an addict though. I coach and I always end up kicking the ball a little bit with the kids and I just don't want to sit out a game.

try a brace of some kind or wrapping it
