The "pre-season" tag on the last thread was distracting...
Chickenhawks look to be coming back to earth this week, with only 20 pts through Saturdays games. This should be a big week as we all race for Crespo. Though I'm not sure I can afford him...

Early season favorite for MVP: Paul Scholes. Has 32 of Kopite Jrs. overall 71 pts so far this season. Chole won't be deliberating much over picking her Captain each week...

I had debated taking Tuesday and Wednesday off work so i could give the computer my undivided attention to snag him.
However, since it looks like Viduka will stay i am more than happy with my strike force.....still the days off would be nice...
My sister says that Crespo is in town and the rumour is that a medical has been scheduled for Monday and if all goes well he will be unveiled to the press Tuesday as a Chelsea player.
I'll bet he is priced at no less than 11.0, maybe even as much as Henry.

He most certainly IS in town, as the camera kept flashing to him in the stands during today's game with Leicester.
11.0 sounds a bit rich for a newcomer, but he might get that kind of respect. I was thinking 10.0.

Yes, i watched the game on tape and saw them screen him.
Everybody in Hammersmith thinks its a forgone conclusion that he will be a Chelsea player by mid-week.
An unveiling to the press right before the return match to Zilina.

Gotta love it when you pick Giggs as your Captain going against a crap team that bleeds goals like Wolves, only to have Sir Alex deem Giggs worthy of resting in that game...
The Chickenhawks had a nice run of two weeks at the top...now the rapid descent begins.

Noticed that :p
Bet Mark is having a fit as well....that deserves another :p
Thats the problem with players from the big teams and their squad size.
Who took Crespo?

It's funny I hadn't considered he would drop players like that and then about two hours before kick off I thought about it.
I wish you could change captain even after the deadline or make it your highest point scorer. Having Sheringham as captain would have been nice.

You need to take Pennant off your squad... He's was already on mine... :(

The Chickenhawks are in the midst of a bad run here. How's this for "over-managing?"
Each of my two goalies now has 12 individual points on the season. But as I've been switching them IN/OUT to try to gain from good matchups, I've gotten a total of 6 from the GK position so far.
That's it. I'm dumping the dual keeper strategy...

Pennant's out. Checked transfers but never thought anyone would have been carrying him all along :(

Jon Ingram is happy to report LSG's acquisition of influential midfielder Paul Scholes, recently given a free transfer by Kopite Jrs. Ingram pointed out the success LSG enjoyed last season after risking a roster spot on a then-injured Robert Pires, who turned out to be one of the most important players for the team over the course of the long season. Ingram is hoping for Scholes to have a similar influence: "We know he'll spend some weeks on the bench -- but it's a long season and the points he can deliver could prove priceless. For now we'll all have to pull together and do the best we can until he regains health." This is a big risk for LSG, the sort that can make or break a season. But the board told Ingram at the beginning of the year to be "either first or last."

To get Craig Bellamy I just couldn't afford to keep him, now I am waiting on Jamie Carragher's injury. He was stretchered off today. Baros has a broken ankle, so the injuries for all teams are gonna start mounting up now the season is in full swing.
Scholes has been my only consistent scorer so far, but he's no good to me on the bench.

Any chance/interest in putting together a drafted division for the Champs League game? I won't bother with a team otherwise, I don't think.
The fly in the ointment is that we've only got 3 days till the first matchday.

According to the morning papers, Carragher did get his leg broken in that awful challenge and will be out for a few months. Not the best day for Liverpool.
Jay, I wish I could do a drafted champs league but don't have the time to do a live draft, unfortunately.

How bout this idea?
Instead of having a draft, we could assign the 8 league members their own Group from the Champs League. So their initial team would have to be fully compiled from those 4 teams. So we wouldn't need a draft, but once the gameweeks begin, anyone can Add/Drop or trade all players.
let me know if interested...

I signed up for the regular challenge, but will go along with this idea if everybody wants to.
Transfers are free untill roster lock.

Jay, that's an idea... but all groups are far from equal, so how would they be allotted? By random draw? I'd look at a champs league fantasy game as more exhibition than the premiership one, so I wouldn't really care anyway...
