A group of us fantasy soccer geeks have participated in a private division of various fantasy soccer games where we have a limited number of managers who commit to staying active the entire season. We then hold a draft and set up procedures for handling trades between managers or from the undrafted player pool.

We run several internal competitions amongst ourselves.

This will be the 3rd or 4th season we've done it for the EPL league. We once used the CYKI game and last season used the fantasy.premierleaguesoccer site, which we will use again.

As to whether you can participate -- maybe. We are checking with prior participating managers first to see if they want to play, plus we have had several prospective managers who expressed interest after we had already conducted our drafts, so, to the extent someone remembers them, we'll also check with them.

Our goal is to get to 12 managers committed to staying active the entire year. We only had 10 last season, and one of those went inactive which hurt some of the internal competitions. And this from one of our more active participants for the two prior years.

If this still seems like something you'd be interested in, PM your information to Mark, aka kopiteinkc, Real Name, BS name, email addresss, what you would call your team, any constraints on your availability to participate in a live online draft over several days, your commitment to stay active in the game the entire season, even if you become the newbie whipping boy (LOL).

We've had talk in seasons past about kicking in something for a prize, but we haven't done that yet and just compete for pride.

Some of our participants have been some of the BigSoccer moderators, and managers who have finished high overall or even won some of the online soccer games for a season. It's fair to call us fantasy soccer geeks.

Tobacco Roma is managed by Andrew Giffen who's BigSoccer nickname is subuteo.

Guys, I'll pass on NYU to another manager. With everything just so busy around here, I'd rather have someone that has the ability to dedicate time to the league.

If Mark is running the draft, everyone will have to give him you email address, BigSoccer nicknames, and possible phone numbers so you can be notified that you are on the clock. If we have the Europe based managers like Michel and Jonathan, aka Ingromius, we can expect some dead periods of activity and will need several days to complete the draft. When I ran it last year, managers sent me their next few proxy picks if they were going to be offline for a few hours. I would only look at the PM or email when it was that manager's turn so I wouldn't be influenced in making my own selection.

Everyone who is interested please do this:

PM me on this site or email mark.adams@nara.gov:

You bigsoccer nickname, email address and emergency phone number

I think if we get 10 people that should be enough, if we have 12 that'll be great too.

So far we have these possible players:

1. Me
2. 1800 World Cup
3. Hal
4. Tobacco Roma (please confirm)
5. Darr
6. MtKillamanjohno
7. DutchFootballruleZ
8. Ilovecolombia (please confirm after reading Hal's post about season long commitment)

Four more needed -- first come, first in

Just talked to my son Jay, aka DoctorJones24, and he's in for a penny and in for a pound for another season.

Here was the draft order and the participants for last season. Mark, I have last year's email addy for these if you need it to send them a reminder.

Team Name: BigSoccer Nickname: Real Name

1. Winning Connections FC: MtKillamanjohno, John
2. 1800-UK.com: 1800-WorldCup, Michel
3. Nocturnal United: Darr, Jason Darr
4. London St. Germain: Ingromius, Jonathan Ingram
5. DC Chickenhawks: DoctorJones24, Jay
6. Romans Roubles: ClanBlue, Paul Hughes
7. I Hate Man U: Captain Splarg, Brian Schoenfelder
8. Many Points FC: JG-Rev, Justin Govonlu
9. Aviators: Hal, Hal Jones
10. Kopite Juniors: kopiteinkc, Mark Adams

When we did an 8 team CYKI draft division, most of the above managers participated along with Outback Maverick

I think Buffalo Soldier played one year.
Beau Dure considered it one year.

Also, we sort of sparked enough interest to have two draft divisions, and even had some competitions with the Chelski division. Some managers had teams in both draft league, but it may be worth while to reach out to the other Chelski managers. Some of those managers not included above are:

Teams / Managers ?
Toffees X1 /
Shoe Suede Blues /
CFC KGB connection /
Dynamo Daylight /
Chelsea Munich /
beantown blues /
Thornhurst Blues /
The White Horse Crew /
Eager Street Blues /
Boston Blur /

Any chance to still participate in this league?

PM me your info.

I have contacted via PM and/or email the rest of the managers from last season's draft.

I am gonna give them a day to respond and if I don't hear anything take in the new managers expressing interest in this thread.

It looks like 12 teams is a very strong possibility.

It looks like 12 teams is a very strong possibility.

I'd think that 10 would be a better max size for the league.

There are 220 regular starting spots in the EPL, and I'd say a full third of those are inconsistent/rotated.

Ten managers will need 150 players to fill out rosters. With an extra 2 teams, I fear we'll all have a few bench guys in our starting lineups each week.

It could work, I suppose, but might be frustrating.

If enough show interest we might have two divisions again. The Premier and oldest division, Very Small Rocks, and the Championship Division, Chelski or some other name. Then the top two teams for the season from the Championship division are promoted into the Premier division to replace the two lowest and relegated teams from the prior season.

Or we could have a combined table at the end of the season and the top 10 or 12 teams get the first choice at being in the Premier Division the following season. You'd have to decide on what basis "top" is. Is it based on the better W-L-T record in the internal competitions, or is it based on the highest season total of premierleague fantasy soccer points.

This way you reward managers for loyalty and also make new blood earn their way in. And, by having a relegation aspect, you encourage managers to stay active near the end of the season.

Thoughts?

As for 10 teams or 12 teams, with the game's automatic substitution rule, I think we can handle 12 teams. It will spread the top talent more.

Having 12 teams would also make our drafted teams even less competitive with the regular premierleague fantasy soccer managers who play the value game and, at least the top managers overall, ofter have similar rosters.

I think 12 would be ok, it would be challenging and more difficult.

I do sense that that not all 12 players would participate throughout the season though. There will be an inevitable drop off.

All managers who participate must do so for the entire season.
