FINAL: (Over two legs)
First leg:
DC Chickenhawks 42 v 38 W Connection FC
Cunningham and Pires lead the way for the 'Hawks
Henry and Saha are keeping it close for W. Connection.
The addition of Jensen and Rooney for the second leg should give Dc the cup, but a hattrick for Henry and all bets are off!
Check out the Financial End Game post on the fantasypremierleague Very Small Rocks league forum.
There is a significant gap between Aviators and Kopite Juniors, Roman Rubles, and even Many Points. Be forewarned - Aviators are still aiming for a top half of the table finish!!!

I added Mendieta... hope he can work some magic off the bench... going conservative this week... 3-4-3 as opposed to the 2-5-3 I think my defenders will come up large...
too close to call... very very close tie comming up...

Is there any interest in putting together a MLS league where we draft the players? Since only 7 or 8 managers seem active, it might work. 6 would probably be ideal since there are only 10 MLS teams.
If so, which fantasy soccer MLS game do you think we should use?
MFLS has a rule against multiple teams, but I'm sure we could get an exception for a draft division that was not elligible for the overall prizes. Each MLS team has 18 players and a coach.
MLS Fantasy Soccer (the official MLS game and run by The Sporting News) encourages the purchase of extra transfers. That may or may not be a problem with a draft league, and we could make a rule that precludes using the buy extra transfer feature. Since each team only has 11 players, it might be a better choice for a draft league, especially if we have 8 interested managers.
subbuteo is starting a new game and still working out the kinks. Might be a good place for a draft league.
Don't know if Yahoo will be doing a game again or not?
Opinions? Interest?

I'd be interested in a draft league using the official MLS game. I think with only 11 players per team, we could field an 8 team league.

I to would be interested in a league using the official site... Not a big fan of the setup for most of the others, although I can live with yahoo if they set up a league...

Yep, Rooney hit for 9 and Jensen for 7 for us, so the moves paid off bigtime. And with Samuel about to come off the bench with 8, I figure we'll have 75 for the week.
Now it's time to buckle down and secure the overall league title for the Double.

Runners up in almost every competition in the inaugural season of VSM, LSG are in the midst of a tragic loss of form. The manager's misplaced priorities mean that he spends all his time doing work rather than taking care of his team as he should. He would have been fired and replaced by now, but the recently revealed financial crisis (see sidebar) mean that the board have been unable to find any managers interested in the position. With a fall to fifth place looking inevitable, all is not well at lsg's famous Lowbury ground.
[LSG reveals massive crisis] A reliable source within the organization has revealed that LSG face almost certain extinction next season. A "miscommunication" means that the entire organization will be running around in the wilderness during the official draft next summer. The effect on LSG's morale has been all too clear, with their dip in form coinciding with the beginning of the crisis. With the board calling for a championship or relegation season, many predict that LSG will now pull out all the stops in a drive for last place in the league.
Final roster update for this EPL season. Data current as of my 4 trades on 4/27/2004.

Hey, isn't it time for a BUMP... when do we start this season... we need to leave ourselves lots of time to draft!!!
We also need to make sure all the regulars are ready for a draft and a league set up.
I have contacted Hal via MFLS.
We should wait for the trasnfer window to close though, when is that compared to the first weekend of matches?

Ok, I have set up a Small Rocks league. Hearing no objections I am gonna be in charge of this thing again. Hal, where are you when I need ya??
I am NOT going to give out the password yet. I'll wait until a few more regulars show up. We can start another thread and get this going.
I am gonna be in New York from Sunday through Thursday of next week so maybe next Friday morning we can get this rolling?
Big problem is ongoing transfers, we may have to have a cut off point and a supplemental draft after the season starts.
If you're interested in the draft version of the league, post your interest here. I am more likely to let those in who rep me some points ;)
I would say we're looking at 8 to 10 players max. Me and MtKill are in. Who else?
This is a tough commitment and not gor the faint hearted, if you're in ,you're in for the whole season (until next May!)

Let me tell u guys something... this league is great... it was very competitive last year... the race for 1st place came down to the very last game and even those who had no shot at 1st were still locked in battles for 4th and higher or even 8th place for bragging rights... its a great league and the draft is a helluva lot of fun.

Johno has drafted me..to join. Prepare to watch me get relegated!! :D

And now there are three... ok guys... hurry up there are only 5 more guaranteed spots... w/ a max of 7 more places left..
I'm In.
Aviators will soar again. I may not wait until late in the season to climb the table. And, (I can't believe I'm saying this, or that I can discipline myself to adhere to it, but..) I may not be so active in the trading market as I was last year!!
Haven't heard from Jay, aka DoctorJones24 on BS, or Aris, aka NY United on BS, or Jonathan Ingram, aka Ingromius on BS
Jason, aka Darr on BS said he was interested in the MFLS Very Small Rocks thread.
I think Justin, aka JG_Revs, is also interested.
We need Michel, aka 1800-WorldCup.com, to make a full year commitment. He was very active the prior two years, even including posting the standings and competitions on his web site, but last year went inactive.
Welcome DutchFootballRulez
As far as when and where to hold the draft:
When: As soon as we get 10-12 (I'm OK with 12) firm commitments.
Where: I have concerns over using the BigSoccer site because of all the BUSY prompts that lock me out. It is a good vehicle for PMs.
For where, I suggest that once we get our confirmed managers, we all use the password that mark will give us and join the division in the fantasy premierleague site. Go ahead and make an initial roster of nobodies and replace them with your drafted team prior to the end of pre-season unlimited transfers.
Also, we can use the site's forum, which is where we announced all trades prior to executing them during the season. The problem is that the site has limited numbers of threads. Still, it might work as the primary place to make our picks with occasional updates in a BigSoccer thread.
If Mark is running the draft, everyone will have to give him you email address, BigSoccer nicknames, and possible phone numbers so you can be notified that you are on the clock. If we have the Europe based managers like Michel and Jonathan, aka Ingromius, we can expect some dead periods of activity and will need several days to complete the draft. When I ran it last year, managers sent me their next few proxy picks if they were going to be offline for a few hours. I would only look at the PM or email when it was that manager's turn so I wouldn't be influenced in making my own selection.

Welcome back Hal.
I too get locked out with the BigSoccer busy messages, so an alternate place for the draft is a good idea. I am not sure if the premierleague.com site can handle it, but it's certainly worth a try there.
PM email addresses and any other contact info everyone -- cell phone, other forms of contact maybe good too.
Reminder, I will be gone in New York most of next week and anticipate us starting the draft next Friday morning -- August 6. That gives us a week to get the draft done. Plenty of time

I'm in... Think Tobacco Roma wants in as well from our MLFS league... Don't know his BS name though, If Premierleague.com can't handle the load we should be ok here as long as it's early morning or the evening.... I get the busy messages to, which I call real "BS" on because they do it on purpose no way they don't have the bandwidth they just want subscribers, but I usually only get them during the day from 10am-5pm CT....
