QPR 1, Charlton 0 (http://www.qpr.premiumtv.co.uk/page/MatchReport/0,,10373~38540,00.html)
Nice win for the R's as they ended the Addicks' playoff hopes.
17,035 at Loftus Road (season high) as Dexter Blackstock scored his fourth goal in five matches in the 15th minute. It's great to see Dexter get in good form as we close out the season -- he's probably earned the right to be in the mix as we open 08/09.
The whole team played good defense, giving the Addicks just one shot on target all day.
Agyemang missed due to injury, so young Angelo Balanta was recalled to the starting lineup.
Lee Cook started for Charlton, but exited in the 23rd with what appeared to be a knee injury.
Matthew Connolly got a start in place of Michael Mancienne, although Mancienne entered in the 34th as a replacement for the injured Fitz Hall.
Akos Buzsaky, returning from injury, entered in the 51st minute and played the remainder of the game.
For some reason, Matt Pickens wan't on the bench, so fellow American Reece Crowther held down the backup spot.
Charlton is now out of the playoff hunt, falling seven points behind 6th place Palace with two games remaining.
Palace beat Watford, 2-0, at Vicarage Road, staking a strong claim to the final playoff spot. With two to go, they lead Ipswich by 3 points and goal difference and Sheffield United and Wolves by 5 points and goal difference, although Wolves has one game in hand.
Stoke beat Bristol City and Hull fell to Sheffield United, so Stoke moved back into the top two and is three points ahead of Hull, but with inferior goal difference. West Brom won at Norwich, so remains top.
Relegated Scunthorpe beat Cardiff to end their faint playoff hopes.
At the other end of the table, Sheffield Wednesday lost at Blackpool. They're now in the final relegation spot and are one point and goal difference behind Southampton (who lost at home to Burnley) and two points behind Leicester (who won at Barnsley to move out of the drop zone).
The R's remain in 14th, but pulled three clear of PNE in 15th and moved to within two points of Cardiff in 13th.

From the Sunday Times:
Pre-season favourites to bounce back into the Premier League and having been as high as second back in November, Charlton yesterday bowed out of the promotion race with little more than a whimper.
They barely created a chance against a team who probably now look the more likely to get back into the top tier of English football before they do.
:D
DiCanio in the Sunday Mirror: "My dream is to take this club into the Premier League with six or seven players coming through from the reserves."
The table with two games to go (for everyone except Wolves and Cardiff, who have three and who meet on Tuesday):
