Pizarro would be the best choice for us right now...
I always felt that Pizarro never fully shined with Bayern.. He was always considered the number 2 striker there. With Bremen I know Schaaf can get the best out of him.

At Pizarro there the salary is the critical point.

Good deal I reckon. But 'unusual' for Allofs to say at least, because there is no option to buy him after a year. So it's more or less a temporary solution, giving us time to find a permanent one in the coming year.
A Pizarro in top form will most definitely help us a lot, and his experience, especially on the European stage, will be very helpful also, knowing that we have one of the youngest squads in the league. A striker of his quality will improve the game of our other strikers also.
It seems like he really wants to prove himself again, otherwise he would have never agreed on a loan deal. So it seems like it's not about earning money foremost indeed, which is good news for us.
He had his best days here in Bremen, time to revive them. Welcome back, Claudio. :)

And btw., Pizarro virtually costing us nothing means that we'll have more than enough money left for a decent midfielder. Especially a Baumann replacement, a real DM, would make a lot of sense, knowing that Baumann isn't getting any younger, and is rather injury prone these days.
It remains to be seen how Boenisch and Tosic will do next year, but to be on the safe side, a proven, solid alternative for the LM position would be useful also. But the defensive midfield (or a midfield alrounder) should have priority.

I don't think we'll sign another player this year. They probably won't sell Tosic either so we do have three options for lb where Boenisch is probably the number 1 option but given his age and his form-fluctuation it's good to have Pasanen there.

Good to see a player who shined for Werder in the beginning of Werder supporting era (the end of 20th century :)) coming back to the team but i don't really now if this will be the best solution, at least for sure not the best for long term.
I hope this will not mean: bye bye Harnik. Maybe he'll find a place in the midfield.

Seems like you are right.

BILD: Will Werder sign another top player until August 31st?
Allofs: No, there won't be any more signings.
I still think that we really could do with a quality, international class defensive midfielder as a long term replacement for Baumann, but it seems Allofs and Schaaf don't see it that way. Hopefully, Niemeyer will have his breakthrough season. He has the talent to be that long term Baumann replacement, but he still has a lot of work to do.

According to that article I posted above, Werder pays €1.5m for the loan, and €2.3m of Pizarro's wages of €3.6m a year, the rest is paid by Chelsea.
Excellent business, Herr Allofs. :D
Since we have directly qualified for the CL, we should have a lot of money left for a midfielder (Borowski replacement), really don't know why we seem to be so stingy this summer.

once again klaus allofs waves his magic stick.
Great deal. What we needed was someone with experience and someone who knows how to win. We didn't spend much and we can invest even more money on a "Kracher " later (hoping we do well this season). All the other players we were linked with (maybe except oliveira) are young talents. We all know what Pizarro can do and with werder he will get many chances.
The Second star will be on our shirts next year!

Indeed, although I'd still like us to sign a defensively strong midfield allrounder. We now have enough depth on most positions to really challenge for the league, and do better in Europe.
First XI:
==========Wiese===========
Fritz=Mertesacker=Naldo=Boenisch
=========Baumann==========
==Frings============Jensen==
==========Diego===========
=====Rosenberg===Pizarro=====
Second XI:
=====Vander (Pellatz)======
Pasanen=Prödl=Andersen=Tosic
====Vranjes (Niemeyer)=====
Harnik=====Hunt (Husejinovic)
=========Özil============
====Almeida===Sanogo=====
Especially if you consider that most of our players are very versatile, and can play well on various positions.
Our 'attacking trident' of Diego, Rosenberg and Pizarro looks particularly promising. :) Hope they'll gel fast, then it'll be difficult to stop them.

id sub rosenberg for Sanogo in that lineup!
Difficult to predict who'll be a starter in a few months, since all of our strikers have their strenghts, but I believe that Rosenberg is the most complete one of those we had already.
All of our strikers should benefit from Pizarro's experience and guile. If he can find the form of his early Bremen years, he'll be one hell of a signing.

Bah..I don't rate Sanogo highly..
I still remember that awful miss in that rangers game! Could have saved the tie for us but he blew it!
I also remember some really awful misses from him...his finishing is rather poor

Sanogo had a very good first half of the season, but the break during the African Cup Of Nations made him lose his rhythm, he wasn't the same for us afterwards. Still, he looked rather promising in the pre-season test matches, that's why I expect him to do better this season.
We now have some serious competition for the striker positions. Hopefully, that will be an additional motivation for our strikers to do well and fight for a starting place. Knowing that we'll most likely play up to 60 matches again this season, all of them should get a lot of playing time / opportunities to prove themselves.

BTW about our DM problem..This should not have been an issue for us...but for some idiotic reason we sold Andreasen in January
This had to be one of the most bone headed move done by Bremen in recent years.
Why did we sell him? He had so much potential!

It never worked out between him and Schaaf apparently, and he simply was not happy with being a sub, he wanted to get more playing time.
Thought he had potential also, but it simply didn't work out.
