I posted this here so other club posters can voice their opinion

I recall about 3 years ago after our horrible Euro 2000 campaign that Hoeness and Co said they want to build the National Team around Bayern. I remember Ballack saying in an interview this is one of the reasons he signed for Bayern as he did have offers from Real Madrid and such.

But over the past 3 seasons we have only signed 3 german players

Ballack, Deisler (both last season) and Rau

We have let go of promising right back Phillip Lahm in addition to Stuttgart which actually looks like it's builiding the National Team for the future

Was this just a lie to lure Ballack and maybe Deisler to Bayern? Or is there actually no talent in Germany which I hardly believe

This talk of Tevez coming to Bayern doesn't impress me

I think that was Hoeness opening his mouth before turning on his brain. It's easy to think that Bayern just have to wave a paycheck and players will show up automatically. The reality is quite different. Players like Kehl or Willi didn't blossom into their promises (and also didn't join Bayern). Players like Frings just plain hate Bayern. And players like Lauth or Kuranyi weren't on anyone's radar.

I think it's much more important that Bayern continue to focus on their youth work. A lot of money and effort have gone into it over the past few years, and I think the fact that Hargreaves, Rensing, Schlösser, Jarolim, Wessels, Lell, Schweinsteiger, Feulner, Trochowski, Misimovic, Kling, and Lahm either have come out or are coming out of the amateur ranks to be professionals. That's much more important to Bayern and German football/soccer.

If Bayern did have most German players on their team I would not be too happy on the form the German team are on now.
