View Full Version : To Tevez or not to Tevez...That is the Question....

We are currently loaning Tevez from MSI and might buy him in the future. We are in quite a dilema because Tevez said he wanted to end his career at Boca in 5 years time. Boca is not gonna splash out millions for him, the likley situatiuons are:
1. We buy him for about 20 million, sign him for about 5 years, 3 and then renew, really doesnt matter. Anyways Tevez leaves on a free when his contract runs out, or we sell him to Boca for not much, certainly not a profit.
2. We simply loan him until the time he wants to leave. That way we dont have to pay a transfer fee, and do not have to deal with any transfer negociations.
What I dont know is how much are we paying MSI per year for the loan deal? What would be better? To buy him and than sell him for cheap or on a free? Or keep on loaning him out?
btw I see nothing wrong with Tevez wanting to retire at Boca because thats his club, his home, and I respect him for wanting to cut his European carreer short so he can actually be effective there. (Not that I want him to leave)
Keep in mind that spending 5-6 years (if he does) at a club, especially not being home grown let alone from a completley different continent, is not a short time. Plenty of prime years:)

The loan deal is for two seasons we have plenty of time to decide. With his form now I'd like to say buy, but in two years Berbatov could be scoring for us every game leaving Tevez on the bench and unhappy. So you never know, but I'm thinking probably buy. Anyways this should be an issue in a year and a half, but not now.

The EPL will impose a rule in the next year or so saying that 3rd party contracts will no longer be honored. So either we buy Tevez when this original deal ends, or he leaves. There is no option to continue "loaning" him out.

I don't think there's any remaining third party issue with Tevez. I don't believe that West Ham is involved any longer and that we have him on loan from MSI.

My bad. I got that info about the new Prem law from an article about Pool trying to close Mascherano.

In any case, does anyone know what Mascherano's status is? Is he on loan from West Ham..MSI... both?

MSI. Our Tevez deal is the same.
I think we should sign Tevez but the timing depends on who else we need. If we need to spend money for targets then delay the signing until after next season, if not then get it done in the summer. Either way I want him to stay at the club. Look at how well he has done without a pre-season and I know there is more to come. The triumvirate of Tevez, Rooney and Ronaldo is too good to break up.
As for Boca it is all talk and we will need to wait and see. Whether we get a good 5 years out of him or longer is irrelevant. I personally have no problem with him moving back providing he gives us a solid period of service that makes his transfer fee worthwhile. We could probably use him to get any promising players breaking through at the time.

Players always want to play for the first love before their retire. The top players just keep postponing the retirement date. Tevez won't go back to Boca until he's no longer good enough to play for one of the European giants.

Spot on. Hell, we're paying 9 mill a year to have him now. If we get 5 years out of him after a 20 million pound transfer, that's half the cost per year that we've paid this year (though I'm unsure whether that 9 mill fee includes his wages).
And anyway, who said 5 years? Tevez will play in Europe till he's not European class anymore. I understand fully his desire to play at Boca, and he still could do so with effectiveness. But Europe is for many the pinnacle - it's "romantic" to see a player go back home before his European expiration data, ala Riquelme, but I think Tevez will stick it out.

i can't believe there's even a poll. Tevez has exceeded my high expectations for him. The one aspect of his game that i never rated as highly as i do now is his passing. Some of the balls he plays are pure magic.

Its not that I dont think he should be here, its what would be more efficient money wise. To loan him and pay an x amount of money per year, or to spend a big amount on the transfer fee.

Tevez and Macherano was brought to Corinthians when MSI bought them and put'em to play for whoever they wanted. For a year that team was one of the strongest in Brazil, but when the Federal Police started to investigate where the money to buy them and the money that flooded Corinthians came, MSI ended the partnership with the brazillians and headed another way with their players. The police is still trying to figure how Tevez was paid and where. They are no team players, they are owned by the MSI and that gang. In my opinion United should buy him, and fast...

Okay, just one question to you all. Do we sign Tevez to a permanent contract or do we let him go. Please also give your reasonings and such.

This question doesn't even need to be asked.
Who would say no?

It's his first season and he has not been fully fit. Despite that he has made a big impact for us. I would definitely snap him up and it will exciting to see both him and Rooney after their summer holidays. Seeing both of them fit and raring to go will be quite something. Still need a striker though but I don't see it being a straight choice between a striker or Tevez. It will be both.

Don't think we need to rush into this tbh. Let's see how they play together next season, after a break as Teso mentioned. This is the first rest Carlos Tevez will have in quite some time, and hopefully we reap the benefits.
Tbh, if it was just off of this season's performance I'd be on the fence about this - keep him or sign a world class 9. No denying that Carlitos has the heart and fight of a lion though - what he did just coming off the bench against Arsenal was spectacular.
