Hahahah. If you want to place a bet on the total # of goals Austria scores for the entire tournament, you are betting on O/U 2 1/2. The under is (-135), over is (-105). They are going to get shattered.

They were excited about moving up from 101st in the FIFA rankings to 92nd.

And somehow the locals are going crazy in anticipation. Austrian flags on cars, out of windows, etc. etc.

Well they put in a great performance yesterday.
Holland 2
Italy 0
At half. Absolutely fantastic. The Dutch are the only team I like in this tourney.

The Holland - Italy game was indeed class.. by far the best match so far. Strangely it didn't feel like a 3-0 win to me, but the Dutch were ruthless with their chances when they came along.
Watching the Italians having to chase a game is hilarious in its own right... They're so defensively minded they look as confused as a hermaphrodite at an orgy when they have to press for goals. "Quick lads throw a right back on!"
France - Romania was a bloody awful game.

Anyone care to take a punt on who will win the tournament based on the early form? Spain have been impressive, so have Portugal and Holland. Germany continue to be ruthlessly efficient if unspectacular. Russia will bomb out as they are only effective in Moscow, I'll be interested to see what Croatia can show tomorrow.
Am I the only one who finds something threatening in large numbers of German people displaying national pride, especially by waving flags? Doesn't bother me with any other nation.
BayernWake is up to his eyeballs in Swedish women... the lucky tw*t.

I think I'm comfortable with my Spain/Portugal shot. No clue who'd win, though.
Turan got the game-winner for Turkey in injury time today. If they draw with the Czechs next game, they'll go to penalties to see who advances.

Spain was my pre-tournament pick and I'm sticking with them. Did you see the video of the German and Polish supporters going after each other and the Polizi pre match?
If I had a $ for hot girl in BW's Facebook profile. (Enjoy being single gentlemen while you can)

Funnily enough Germany and Poland still have issues (on things other than Lukas Podolski) I used to work with a Polish guy, and they still have a major dislike for the Germans. Understandably so I suppose. These things live on long after the event.
You sound like a dog chained to the porch Dirt :D Glad to see you've quickly discovered the purpose of facebook.
As far as the tournament goes I'll say Spain, but I'm just hoping that after the last two tournaments (Euro2004, WC2006) have been won by defensively minded teams, the winner plays the game in the right (non-BSA) way.

WTF? They've lost the plot big time.

That was almost like Adi knew Zambrotta was going to head down to Buffon on that FK. Well taken half-volley nonetheless. Good response by Italy as well, equalizing almost immediately. This is a cracking game so far.

I was among those German flag-wavers watching the matches yesterday and Sunday at the FanZone on Residenzplatz. They're not so bad.
Although I'm afraid a fan or two might die during the Germany/Austria game. I'm prepared to see some fights. Tensions will be high.
Sometimes I wish I weren't a Germany fan though, because I have some pretty nice female Austrian friends :( They will be in a state of euphoria if Austria eliminates Germany...

First Italian goal should have stood.
Nobody was offsides...

There's no disputing Toni's goal should have stood.
Mutu with a shocking penalty. Either side would have done it and probably won the game. But a draw would probably be fair on the balance of play. Best game of the tournament so far, imo.

Mutu has blown those before for Fiorentina.
Maybe needs a bump or three to help focus him next time?
Italy's out IMO. They do not have the finishing and luck is clearly offsides for them.
well played Romania, well played...

They're still in with a shout, particularly if France beat Holland today. But the problem with the Italians is that their defense isn't very good without Cannavaro, and they're terribly predictable up front, serving Toni with long balls and crosses and letting the other guys run off of it. It's fortunate for them that Toni is as good as he is, but he can't do it by himself.
EDIT: Kuyt puts Holland in front with a nice header off the corner, after making Malouda his bitch.

I'm still trying to comprehend how Robben got that in. Good news for the Romanians is that France and Italy are so inept that they could very well lose and go through if they only lose by 2.
