A few interesting snippets:
"I’m definitely trying to bring in one more in before the transfer deadline on August 31st"
He than gave a hint as to what type of player that might be:
"At the end of last season I was saying that we need to stop letting goals in - if you looked at the teams around us we had scored as many if not more than those teams but had let more in - and we had tremendous problems with injuries to our centre-halves and we conceded a six and a four at home. We have to stop letting them in first and hopefully if we’ve got a bit more quality up front we can start sorting a few more."
I think he is looking for a defender.
About Cole/DiCanio:
If we end up playing Di Canio and Cole that’s fine, just the same as if we play Bartlett and Euell – it doesn’t matter, we just need results. I want to be in a position where everyone is under pressure.
The Di Canio/Cole partnership looks good on paper but we’ll have to wait to see if it works.”
Spoken like a true trainer... those who produce results will get the playing time.
