Garber is going to be sooo confused by the French version ;)

Signed it - but it might not be as good as actually having all of those people write into MLS HQ by snail mail.

428 signatures already? I'm impressed.

good thing, because online petitions have changed a lot of things for the better in this world.

I imagine you're being sarcastic. Although I suggest next time you use some kind of smiley to more properly convey your expressions.

I doubt any kind of petition would help us get a team in Montreal. But considering Saputo & Gillete have already expressed interest directly to MLS, any kind of interest from the fans can only help the process.

I think that the petition will probably do more good with getting people here aware of the situation than with actually convincing MLS that there's interest.

The idea is to get people (and the media) legitimately thinking about MLS. Same as Facebook groups, who don't necessarilly change much, but do wonders for awareness.

Are the fans in Montreal in contact with Saputo concerning the MLS bid? I'm wondering if the play is to to put pressure on Garber or maybe Anschutz or go to the press and other media outlets or maybe the play is to keep quiet because negotiations are ongoing behind the scenes and public pressure right now is the wrong move?

Just signed it guys. I hope you get your team in the MLS soon! Considering this is coinciding with the commissioners letter/threat to AEG, I wonder if Garber would consider a merger between Houston and Montreal and move them up to Quebec?

some advice ...

online petitions are great and all, but there should be a follow-up with this. have a 'cut off' date, after which you print out all the signatures. you then must determine who best to send these hard copies to, even though the petition is addressed to the commissioner. and perhaps, in addition, you begin some kind of petition drive to obtain signatures from people not in tune with bigsoccer and your efforts here. go out to local soccer games, impact games, bars/pubs, etc, and solicit signatures there.

If they move again they'd just be named Bingo Long's Traveling All-Stars (The Wiz already stole their jersey though)

This movie looks incredible. I can't believe I've never heard of it before.

Montreal needs a team! I have to say that this city has passionate sports fans. Did anyone see what happend after game 7 when the Canadiens beat the bruins? 6 cops cars burned and people celebrating like crazy. (Not advocating the burning of cop cars) Also there was a tremendous atmosphere in Montreal much like a European soccer match when George St. Pierre was fighting Matt Serra in the UFC this weekend. Montreal is quite far, but i hope they get a team soon.

I don't know the details of the San Diego/Houston team, but why did MLS approve the move to Houston if there was no SSS plan in place BEFORE they moved?
