"It is great to be able to secure an opponent the calibre of Argentina," Dave Nutt, Canada's national team's administrative manager, said in a release Wednesday

looks like haber, olivier lacoste lebuis, gala, attakoran-gyan, melo and owusu-ansah so far... i think ayre, beaulieau-bourgault, bonifacio, kalthoff, lammie, lensky, monsalve, nunez are possibilities... depending on release from their clubs i would assume.

Except for Bonifacio, the players you listed are all too old for this new batch of U20's. This will be the '89 born and later who will attempt to qualify for the 2009 U20 WC.

Here's my crack at the lineup:

GK's
Adam Street (West Ham)
Roberto Stillo (Genoa) or Michal Misiewicz (Plymouth)

Def
Nana A-G(TFC)
Gabe Gala (TFC)
Kennedy O-A (Hertha BSC)
Oliver L-L (Strasbourg)
Greg Smith (Vancouver)
Paris Nakajima-Farran (Naestved)

Mids
Joey Melo (TFC)
Kyle Bekker (Ajax Amsterdam)
Shaun Saiko (Middlesborough)
Brandon Bonifacio (Cambuur-Leuwarden)
Marcus Johnstone (Vancouver)
Taylor Lord (Monaco) or Abde Sylla (Metz)

Forwards
Marcus Haber (Groningen)
Randy Edwini-Bonsu (Vancouver)
David Hoilett Jr. (Blackburn/Paderborn)
Derek Gaudet (Malmo)

Other considerations:
GK's: Marcel Debellis (Benfica), Julien Latendresse-Levesque (Montreal), Jaswinder Gill (U. of Alberta)

Def.:Octavio Maginnis-Castro (Vitesse Arnhem), Eddy Sidra (Energie Cottbus), Nik Giannotta (Hibernian), Alex Martinez (Atlas), Robert Adam (Hearts), Ethan Gage (Vancouver), Alex Suprenant (Montreal)

Mids: Devin Gunenc and Alex Semenets (Vancouver), Damien Merette (Nacional SP), Michael Abusabal (Deportivo Municipal), Nico Aravana (Rosario Central), Fabian Troche (Rampla Jrs.), Matt Lam (Ajax Amsterdam).

Forwards: Jarek Whiteman (Vancouver), Todd Rutledge (Fairfield U.), Reid Fraser (UCSB).

Aren't there a couple of Canadian youngsters in the youth set-up at Ajax? Kyle Bekker and Matt Lam I believe are their names.

Is this U-20 team better than our last U-20 team?

Any word of a group purchase for this match? At $85/seat I might just rather spend the afternoon with family :|

Something is not quite right when you can see the CMNT play for cheaper than a U-20 friendly. Without the group purchase for the supporters end, this match will draw only a few hundred friends and family of the players plus a handful of you incredibly loyal Canadian soccer fans.

This game is being arranged by a private promoter (at least according the poster I've seen) and therefore that promoter will be looking to make money. The Canada-Costa Rica game at BMO last year was arranged by the CSA and therefore the CSA really only had to worry about covering Costa Rica's travel and hotel costs.

$85, while ridiculous, is only the top price for a small section of seats. Most of the other tickets are in the $21 to $32 range.

If you phone ticketmaster you should be able to purchase tickets in the cheaper sections.

That remains to be seen. If we get all the players eligible to play for us onboard then i think the answer will be yes. This group of kids should definitely qualify for the WC in Egypt though.

I looked at the presale "special" (if you want to call it that) and was kind of surprised the tickets were so much. Not worth it, in my opinion. This sort of game should be like $10-$15. It's the U20 team (not the WC squad), and it's only a friendly. Tickets for the U20 quarterfinal last July at BMO cost less! Just my 2.5 cents.

Again, the presale online only has the expensive seats available. If you call ticketmaster by phone you can 1) buy the cheaper seats and 2) order more than 2 tickets (restriction on the presale).

Sadly, I don't see anything near a sell out...I hope I'm wrong but I'm guessing 10-12K.

I mean mothers day? Come on! Five buddies and I have season's for TFC and we really want to see this one (in the $21 seats) but can't on this holiest of days...

Damn.
