Are goal kicks direct or indirect? In other words, could a team potentially score off of a goal kick?

I reffed a match last year in high wind; the keeper got his goal kick up high and the wind carried it all the way downfield. The opposing keeper came off his line, but misjudged the bounce and only got a touch on the ball. In that case, the question is null because the opposing keeper touched the ball, but what if it had just bounced over his head and into the net? Goal or no-goal?

2nd sentence in Law 16: A goal may be scored directly from a goal kick, but only against the opposing team.

GGGGOOOOOOAAAAALLLLLL!!!!!!!!!

Yes it has and will happen.

In a BU15 game, a goal kick was taken; regulation size field. This Keeper had a FANTASTIC kick. One bounce and IN IT WENT! ***NO WIND*** The bounce occurred at the 18 yard line and went over the Keeper; who came out to collect-and misjudged. Needless to say, it took a few minutes to restart the game. Everyone was in awe.

Yeah, and it was one of those times when absolutely no one had a video camera.
