Yes. That's the one. Good for discussion.

That pic isn't useful, since it doesn't show the moment when Achenbach played the cross ball.

I've seen the whole scene on Franken.TV and am sure that it wasn't offside.

I'm all for you LB, but that yellow line you drew is definitely not parallel to the other lines in the pic. Were you trying to follow the grain in the grass?

Resolution suck, but yes it is parallel....as close as I could get in time allotted. But still, he is no where NEAR close to onsides. He was previously in an onside position, never reset himself back onside, was back in an offside position when the play was played forward. So, in essence, he broke the offside rule in three ways:

Coming from an offside position to play a ball
Never having set himself BACK onside
Offside at the time the ball was played to himEither way you slice it he was off.

But, 1860 played so bad that not sure it would have made much difference. But would have liked to see the game result had this goal not stood and Thorandt not been Y/R for no reason.

Saw it again. Yeah, offside.

Sadly, calls like that are missed all the time.

Well, if you like rumors here's a good one:

A few years a go a promising defender named Michael Kokocinski left 1860 for Bayern. He has played for the RL team only with no call ups. He is 23 and unhappy at Bayer....or so goes the rumors.

Eberlien's contract is up next season and he has not gotten any direct call ups from Kurz this season since returning from injury. It is presumed that Kurz is leaving him in the II's to get his confidence back up and avoid any unreasonable expectations. Also it is suspected that 1860 will try to sign him to a long-term contract and make him the centerpiece of the defense.

The RUMOR is that 1860 and Bayern will work a deal whereby Kokocinski comes back to 1860 for future consideration of Eberlein going to Bayern.

Really hope this does not come to fruition.

Moot point because he never reset himself from being in an offside position. Seen at speed, Reisinger is offside the whole time EXCEPT when he actually RECEIVES the ball. So 1) because he never reset himself and, 2) because playable parts of his body were closer to the goal than the second to last defender at the time the play was played, he was offside.

I've seen the whole scene on Franken.TV and am sure that it wasn't offside.
Now there's an objective source.;)

Eberlein has not impressed this season, and to assume he'd be a future keystone of the backline is a bit of a stretch. I wonder if some of the kids in the U23 have passed him on the club's blackboard by now.

I don't know how good Kokocinski would be after languishing in the Bayern RL squad for a few years, but maybe Reuter sees him as a Göktanesque ex-Bayern reclamation project and another way to add a player without spending on transfer fees.

I do hate to see our players going to Bayern, though...

Dude...with all due respect "what are you smoking?"

Eberlein was not considered from Day 1 this season once he got his mandatory military call up. That basically relegated him to the II's 15 games because they knew he would be gone in October. Then he gets injured and is out for the remainder of the hinrunde. He comes back in January and has been playing fine. I think Kurz knows what he has and does not want to damage goods for no reason. Couple all that with the fact Berhalter has been playing out his ass, and you have the situation we are in.

I don't think that the DFB are likely to call up a has-been. He played 90 agaisnt Italy and has had previous call ups as well since Jan. Me thinks Reuter will keep him and sign him until 2011 too. No one would be stupid enough to give up a defender of his caliber. Well, maybe Doll...right Keith?:D

Most people see "Kicker" as an objective source. They said it was offside too......

Bayern TIE Getafe who were playing with 10 men for 114 mins!!! ROFLMMFAO......THAT is too, too funny. Getafe only lost because their keeper pooched a high cross and dropped it at the feet of Toni. Can their luck not end?

Zenit should give them fits....their swift counter attacking against Neverkusen showed how goog they can be.

Is it just me or is Kahn an ape without his bananas lately? Just no form or style. Not near the same keeper he was. Sad to see.

He's gotten beaten from long range a few times the past week. Caught of of position maybe?

I thought they played Eberlein at center back a few times last season, and he didn't look that good, and maybe I'm wrong but I though he was to take a side spot with the big club this season.

This season he played out of position at DM in the Mainz game and has been often subbed out for the II team. Maybe this is due to his injury, but he's not getting lots of playing time with the either top or II team.

I also think some of the hype around Eberlein is because he's a big kid, and not necessarily due to him being an extraordinary talent... Getting U23 call-ups is not a guarantee for success either. Not every big German kid on the U23s turns into a Wörns or Metzelder (to use BVB as an example).

Maybe it's that I'm not patient with the younger players where they don't show tangible results (unlike the Bender twins) and would rather 1860 get an older established defender (not Berhalter/Hoffmann old) to solidify the backline for the next few years. Maybe it's also because I'm hoping for a legitimate shot at promotion next season, an don't want a learn-as-you-go kid starting at CB.

Besides, if they're patient with Eberlein and it takes a few years to build him into a quality defender, he'd get snapped up by a bigger club and we'd do all the work and someone else would get the results.

So count me in the column for grabbing someone another team has put the time into developing (like Göktan), while selling off our promising kids to flounder in other systems, like Lehmann and Baier.

This kid is FAR more promising than Lehmann, Baier, Milchraum or Goerlitz. Patience, young Skywalker. In time, prove you wrong he will.:D
