Yes, a rather nice one at that. It is at 114 Gruenwalderstr. (http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&q=Training+Gr%C3%BCnwalder+Str.114+muenchen,+germany&ie=UTF8&ll=48.102602,11.566823&spn=0.006463,0.014334&t=h&z=16&iwloc=B) just near that other team's training facility, but we don't have the rat problem they do.

Very nice... Is it safe to presume this facility includes the requisite gift shop and place to grab ein Mass as well?

Excellent. Specific recommendations are always appreciated. Heaven knows I will need refreshment after hitting up the 1860 gift shop.

There's an 1860 gift shop less than half a block from the Hofbrauhaus too..... ;)

In München? Really? Well, my plan was actually to go around the corner to Weisses Brauhaus instead of the Hofbrauhaus, but that's fine too! I could always do both!

Dude, no self-respecting Bavarian would do anything other than take a piss at the HBH. Shiite food, shiite bier and shiite tourist trap. Go to Weisse Brauhaus, get a Schweinshaxe and Doppelbock. Or go to the Ayinger stuerbl on Orlando Platz.

The Fanshop is on Orlandostrasse (http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&q=Orlandostr.+8+muenchen,+germany&ie=UTF8&ll=48.137511,11.579762&spn=0.001615,0.003583&t=h&z=18) across from this most excellent Imbiss.

Dude, never claimed to be a "self-respecting Bavarian", nor would I want to be one.

I also wasn't suggesting he go to the Hofbrauhaus. It's the one landmark in the area I know.

Excuse me for insulting anyone's Bavarianism. I was just trying to help.

It is all good... Thanks for the heads up!

I can only hope that I get to see an 1860 match when I am in Munich - whenever that will be...

Down boy. I was directing my comment to him, not you, given he said his family was Bayrisch. I know you are not Bavarian.:D

I was told that I need to learn Bayerische. Sakes, I cannot even handle that much German!

If you visit during the season, that should not be a problem. They almost never sell out.

Naw, everyone understands Hoch Deutsch. If you go to certain places you will need to understand Bayrisch (Boarisch) if you want to be "in". But there are Germans who have a hard time understanding Bayrisch, so don't feel bad if you don't get it.

Is it better or worse than Schwaebisch?

Dunno...can't understand those guys.:D I think they are very similar actually, at least in terms of difficulty. I find it FAR easier though than Koelnischer dialect. THAT is friggin hard. I spent the summer of '82 training in Koeln and had a heck of a time understanding these guys.

From wiki, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/K%C3%B6lsch_%28dialect%29:

Also Kölsch conveys different meaning by different intonation inside sentences; for example each of: He meant what he said, He was only consoling (someone), He knew what he was saying, He did not mean what he said, He was lying/pretending, He said exactly that, It is most questionable that he said something like that, He did say that, It was him who said that (and no one else), He has expressed that precisely so, He would have said that so (but was involuntarily kept from), He said that so orally (but did not write it, sign it, etc.), and six different questions, can be meant by: Dat hätt dä esu jesaat.

I didn't know there were Chinese in Germany.

Uh, that was the point man! LOL!!

Believe me, my worst visit to London was the one I made without football to check out. It was during the All-England Championships (Wimbledon).

That just didn't do it for me. :D

Sure, there's lots to do in Munich when it isn't football season, but a trip to the AA to see 1860 makes it all worthwhile.

I smell cover-up :D

I went to Europe for 17 days in the summer of 1999. Bus trip, no footy, hard to find footy shops in most places. great trip, but would have been AWESOME with a little footy.
