Well, we're finally out of the Wildmoser debacle. So I guess it's good news. Also, leases can always be re-negotiated.

As long as 1860 can get decent crowds, I don't see any reason for them to move, despite that many of us would love them to either move to a new smaller arena or gut-rehab Grünwalder.

Many of us think they should have never been a part of that AA process in the first place. I think the only time you see over 30,000 there is when they play Augsburg, Koln, Gladbach, Fuerth, etc. I hate it when I go to matches, there's about 25,000 there and it seems like the f#ckin' place is empty.......

Not relevant at all but HAD to post here....great t-shirt.

And being from the Philadelphia area, that t-shirt holds a special meaning.

It's patterned after the "Tastykake" advertisements.

Spot on. He loves to dive....but after what?

Yeah. Sometimes I wonder what the hell Tschauner is thinking. Just like the other ex-FCN keeper in Munich, Darius Kampa.

Honestly don't want to see them in BL3. Don't think they are good enough...yet.

Maybe, but the club needs the money. It's not like they can go any higher anyhow.

For the life of me I cannot see why they have not signed Purdy for an extension. Only Baumgartlinger has played more time for the IIs and he has been very consistent in the back. Hell, he is a CENTRAL defender....and a good one. He's US and cheap. Shit, Retuer, sign the kid.

Maybe he's one of those they'll get around to. It's not like anyone else is beating down Purdy's door.......

With no abloese and a guy of that caliber (Wörns) on a free, I cannot see why some of the Loewen Fans don't want him. Crap, he is better/faster than Gregg and Gregg has done a great deal for the club this year.

Because they don't think past the f#cking noses on their faces. They just see his age and whine.

MoM at 35 in the BL on an very average team (no disrespect intended, but they do suck somewhat) is one HELL of an accomplishment.

Dude, "very average" is respectful in my mind. No disrespect taken. And Wörns wants to show people he can still play the game.

He can. He's just not fast enough to keep up with the elite of the Bundesliga and Europe. His match smarts make up for a lot of it, but not enough. He'd be the perfect guy for a club trying to make it from the 2. Liga to the 1. Liga and would do good to try to help keep you in the 1. Liga.

Admittedly, I haven't been his biggest fan this season, but I do believe he can help 1860. I believe that wholeheartedly.

On Tschauner: I have not seen him play much so I will respect the observations here. I just hope you are keeping an open mind;) as we may need him for several more years.

No, 1860 won't. Good goalkeepers are a dime a dozen these days. I just wish they had not extended with this guy so quickly.

I'm being open-minded and fair about the guy. I've seen him since he first came up with FCN. They were hoping he would be their #1, but they quickly realized he could not handle the Bundesliga game.

On BL3: This is just a small point. TSV 1860 II need to finish in the top 10 AND finish no worse than second with the other "II" teams. So, they have to finish above FC Bayern II as well. That cannot be a bad thing!

Wow. I actually didn't know that. I thought all of them who finished in the top ten would go in. They really limited it four of the "U-23 teams" eh?

But I guess that makes sense. Otherwise, they probably believe the big clubs would just buy up all the young talent for their reserve teams.

Re/Purdy....well, perhaps MLS. He is 23 and a decent player. I would like to see him play as I think even the RL South is better than MLS. Although, he may not think so and may want to head home; perhaps to SJ since they are a new team and need talent. One thing in his favor is that MLS will be halfway over by then and he might simply extend until winter and then move. I would really like to have another Ami at 1860. He can play well, is tall, fairly fast and seems to understand the German game. He is physical and not afriad. Best: he does not seem to pick up dumbass cards.:p

Something else in 1860's favor:

Greetings, friends!

I posted in another thread but I figured I would come here as well. My family is literally divided in half between TSV 1860 and FC Bayern... Needless to say, one half is happier this year than the other...

If anyone is able to watch 1860 matches online, please let me know. I have only been able to watch FCB matches to date.

Oh, and I cannot wait to get rid of Kappa as the trikot designer... Heavens.

Bis gleich!
Dan

Oh, and also, I plan to be in Germany over the next several months... I was wondering how difficult it is to get tickets to TSV 1860 matches...?

Thanks in advance!

Welcome Dan. Good to have you around.

As is mine. But we cannot do anything about the fact that Bayern fans lead bitter, sorrowful lives. We can only sympathize. Seriously, I have followed Sechzig for over 30 years, through the RL to the Oberliga Bayern and back. I have never found myself "missing out" on anything. For me the fact 1860 makes the Cup semis, gets promoted, etc., is FAR more meaningful than if we won the league every other year. Bayern fans are not happy unless they win the title each year. Last season most Bayern fans I know were very, very bitter: no title, no cup, no CL.

Gladly. Go to www.tsv1860.de (http://www.tsv1860.de) and click on the "TV (http://www.tv.tsv1860.de/de/misc/index.php)" link on the main page. You will need to register but they accept US credit cards. I think the spring season package was $18 or so. The games are streamed one hour after the game ends. They are packaged into 15 minute chunks and are available anytime and for was long as your subscription lasts. I have seen all the games this spring and can honestly say the quality is great. DEFINATELY worth the $$.

Yeah, check out the new kits thread. I posted the possible kits Erima might do for 1860. The new kits are due out in July.

Unless the opponent is Augsburg (local rival), Nuernberg (who will probably be back in the 2. Liga next season), Fuerth (another Bayern Derby) or one of the fairly big names that isn't promoted (Koln, Mainz, Freiburg), getting great seats for 1860 matches on match day is not difficult at all.

I go to their matches quite a bit.

I was about to send you a private e-mail about helping him out. I sent him the link to Lowen TV at the 2. Liga thread, but was not sure if they take US Credit Cards or if you got it through a German account.

I still can't talk BVB's guys into doing it....

I have neither been to an 1860 match nor a Bayern match yet... Are the crowds about the same for either side? Is one better?

Vielen danke feur alles!

I think I could feel more attached to die Loewen if I could watch their matches. I will definitely look into the Loewen TV and see if that works for me.

Danke!

Paraphrased from the 1860 website:

TSV 1860 Munich received the highest evaluation by the DFB and the DFL for the promotion and development of youth players. The lions got three of three possible stars. The report, performed by a Belgian agency assigned by the DFB and the DFL, confirms: "altogether 1860 achieves a very good result." The report states that only 9 of 39 clubs, across eight categories, received the highest three star mark. The independent appraisal provides the first inventory across German football on youth development. The complex certification examines areas such as organization, infrastructure, effectiveness, football training, scouting and youth training center management.

Does 1860 have a facility in Munich worth visiting, like FCB has Saebener Strasse?

If so, a visit may be in order...

Thanks!

LMAO!! :D

But that is true to a certain extent. Bayern crowds are too pampered. The only times you really hear them are:

1) When they score.

2) When they are winning.

3) When the fans complain that they aren't winning.

4) When the fans complain that they aren't beating their opponents 12-0.

OK, I "fudged" a bit on #4, but you get the idea, right?

Going to an 1860 match is like going to a match with a group of good friends and singing to support your team if you're winning 3-0 or losing 3-0.

Yes, a rather nice one at that. It is at 114 Gruenwalderstr. (http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&q=Training+Gr%C3%BCnwalder+Str.114+muenchen,+germany&ie=UTF8&ll=48.102602,11.566823&spn=0.006463,0.014334&t=h&z=16&iwloc=B) just near that other team's training facility, but we don't have the rat problem they do.

Yeah, those are part of the complex. The field on the far north is pure turf. Nice facilities actually.
