Woerns to 1860 on a 24 month contract. Tangential rumor Ricken may join too but has a contract through 2009 and 1860 not likely to pay good money for Ricken on a transfer.

What are you talking about? So far this is nothing but media speculation.
And you know this time of year "journalists" start making up shit as they go along......

I originally typed a really good response but BS puked all over it and I am not pithy enough to retype the whole damn thing. Suffice to say that before last night:
1860 had not won a game since since BEFORE xmas
had scored very few goals
had gone from 4 points behing the promotion runners to 6 points above the relegation runners
Were 1 point above Augsburg, Osnabrueck and OffenbachGiven all that you better believe Reuter's pucker-factor was high.
I believe YOUR "pucker factor" was high. No one I know here even worried about the shit.
As do FCK: two against promotion teams and 3 against relegation teams. Perhaps he was banking on FCK being just a bit worse than we are.
No. I think he realizes there are four other teams between 1860 and FCK, whereas you seem to want to scream "the sky is falling."
Is 1860 "safe" yet? Hell no. However, it would take not just a massive collapse on their part, but an amazing recovery from not only FCK, but Augsburg, Offenbach and Osnabrueck to catch them. Wehen is right behind 1860 and they look worse right now too.
BTW, do you see that Augsburg has their third coach of the season now? THEY are worried about the drop.
1860 isn't and doesn't need to. Not just yet.
You've been right in everything you said so far this season. But have a little faith.
Who said that? Was that me? ;)

Right....and comments gone un-denied. Hence, why I called it "transfer rumor mill".....just that, nothing more than pure speculation based on un-denied, unanswered questions.
But, given we have no promotional dreams anymore we might as well put the hair dyers on our heads and gossip about next season, no?

I believe YOUR "pucker factor" was high. No one I know here even worried about the shit.
My sources inside of 1860 say that it was the somewhat unspoken Boogeyman in the room for the last two weeks at Gruenwalderstrasse. They are a BIT more relaxed now but will truly be so after they reach 40 pts.
No. I think he realizes there are four other teams between 1860 and FCK, whereas you seem to want to scream "the sky is falling."
Well, Keith, when you have only won ONE game since DECEMBER, scored only 8 goals in 12 games, suffered key injuries and suspensions in key positions REPEATEDLY, your leading scorer is your central defender and those are from the spot, you were 2 points out of the promotion race two months ago and now you are just 6 points above the relegation race....YEAH, that DOES look like the freak'n sky is falling. Kurz may have been giving it the old "ho-hum" in public, but secretly he was shitting bricks. That is a fact. Quelle: My friend at Sechzig. Irony: Rumor was FCK was looking at Kurz as a possible coach next season.

Again, had 1860 not won last week and were sitting 6 pts above the drop with 5 games (15 pts) in the air, I would say that anyone sitting on 35 or less points should have a HIGH pucker factor.
BTW, do you see that Augsburg has their third coach of the season now? THEY are worried about the drop.
As I said, anyone on 35 or less should worry.
1860 isn't and doesn't need to. Not just yet.
You've been right in everything you said so far this season. But have a little faith. Who said that? Was that me? ;)
They don't need to worry AS MUCH now after the win last week....puts a ton of pressure on FCK to take max points from 5 games; whereas 1860 are one win away from near certainty of staying up. Whoever said you cannot worry about the status of your team and still have faith? I have faith they CAN stay up, the question (before last week) was WILL they stay up. I have faith they can do it but it looked pretty close there. VERY close. The normally cool Herr Reuter's reaction to both goals on Sunday was telling; the man nearly ran out on to the field 15 feet in the air! Publicly he has been cool, privately I hear he has been very nervous.

Dude, your original comments say nothing about a "transfer rumor mill" You wrote like the Woerns part of the deal was done and Ricken was the rumor.
Read it again and see if you cannot figure how I would think that is what you meant.
But, given we have no promotional dreams anymore we might as well put the hair dyers on our heads and gossip about next season, no?
Sure thing.

OK. I have no sources inside of 1860. I can only go from what the fools here and the couple of 1860 fans I know in Munich say.
But I guess I should remember how much of an idiot I looked like last year listening to what these guys down here say......

Funny. We knew they were in trouble, but no one I know thought relegation. Too many other teams are playing badly too.
But I can see your points. I guess I have too much faith in them to win a few. :o
That's not a shot at you, just how I feel.
Quelle: My friend at Sechzig. Irony: Rumor was FCK was looking at Kurz as a possible coach next season.
I think we both know that wasn't happening.
Again, had 1860 not won last week and were sitting 6 pts above the drop with 5 games (15 pts) in the air, I would say that anyone sitting on 35 or less points should have a HIGH pucker factor.
Not with the way certain teams are playing. Augsburg has gone into panic mode already because they've lost their game. Augsburg hired the worst coach I can think of in Holger Fach! That guy is so bad, I'd offer Thomas Doll a f#cking lifetime contract if someone threatened me with Fach!
Plus, Offenbach, Osnabrueck and FCK are totally inconsistent.
Here's why I don't worry so much man.
I think 1860 will lose their next two matches at Gladbach on Sunday and hosting Freiburg next Friday.
However, this weekend, I don't expect FCK to beat Aachen, even though the match is in Kaiserslautern. Wehen and Offenbach play each other. Both can't get three points. Augsburg plays who might be the hottest team in the 2.L Liga at the moment, St. Pauli. Osnabrueck hosts Mainz, who are on a roll and pushing for promotion right now.
The next matchday, FCK has to go to Mainz. Osnabrueck has to go to Jena, who are playing some good football right now, Augsburg has to go to Aachen, Offenbach hosts Gladbach and Wehen has to play a derby at Koblenz.
After that, 1860 has to go to Paderborn. I think 1860 can win there as Paderborn should already be relegated. Yes, I know that sometimes relegated teams fight harder, but I still think 1860 can beat them. That same weekend, Osnabrueck hosts Greuther Fuerth, FCK hosts St. Pauli, Augsburg hosts Koln, and Offenbach and Wehen have to go to Freiburg and Moenchengladbach respectively.
After that is match 33. 1860 hosts Osnabrueck in 1860's final home match of the season. 1860 had better not lose that. FCK goes to Jena. It'll probably be Jena's last 2. Liga match at home for awhile and Jan Simak's farewell to the Jena fans, so they won't want to lose that. Wehen should beat Paderborn at home and Offenbach hosts Hoffenheim. If Hoffenheim are still in the promotion race, that will be a rough match.
On the final day, 1860 goes to Aue in what should be Aue's last 2. Liga match for awhile. Don't know if 1860 can win that one, but if they can beat Paderborn and Osnabrueck, I think 1860 will be home free anyhow. FCK hosts 1. FC Koln. Augsburg hosts Jena, Osnabrueck and Offenbach square off with one another in Osnabrueck and Wehen has to go to Freiburg.
I know upsets happen and maybe everything won't go the way I see it, but this is why I am not worried. I know it is close, but I don't think the others will do enough to get past 1860. That's not to say that 1860 won't fall further back during all this. They can and probably will.
I just don't feel they will fall into the bottom four.
Like I said, maybe I have too much faith in them to win a few. Again, saying that is not a shot at you, it is just the way I feel.
But being a Philadelphia sports Phan, I get where you are coming from.
As I said, anyone on 35 or less should worry.
Historically, one cannot argue with that point. However, all three of the teams currently on 34 would have to do a 180 and 1860 would have to continue to falter. As I said, I expect 1860 to lose to Gladbach and Freiburg, but I think they can beat Paderborn and Osnabrueck. And even with Gladbach and Freiburg, if you can believe the others can pull upsets to get by 1860, why can't you believe 1860 will pull an upset or two to save themselves??
Why am I confused? That's PhillyPhan syndrome.......
Publicly he has been cool, privately I hear he has been very nervous.
Well, I only get the see the public Reuter. He didn't make any knee-jerk reactions, so I'd like to believe he's been pretty cool.
As I said, I'm not saying 1860 won't fall any lower, but I just don't feel they will fall into the bottom four.
I showed you why I feel that way.
And because the man ran 15 feet out onto the field doesn't mean he was shitting bricks about relegation. He was probably that happy that they:
a) Finally scored goals at home.
b) Won a match.
c) Showed that even in a bad performance, they could pull together and take three points.
Call me what you want. But I believe Reuter when he says he was not and is not worried about relegation.

Jesus, we both have time on our hands today.;) I miss sitting with you, drinking beer and talking footy. One of us should move closer. Given you have the better bier and scenery I vote for me.
Funny. We knew they were in trouble, but no one I know thought relegation. Too many other teams are playing badly too.
I said it jokingly in November knowing the injury problems. Even said it to you. I even did not think it was possible to just recently with the drop in points. I agree it is not likely, but was very probable as of last week. No more I think.
I think 1860 will lose their next two matches at Gladbach on Sunday and hosting Freiburg next Friday.
Agree.
I don't expect FCK to beat Aachen, even though the match is in Kaiserslautern. Wehen and Offenbach play each other. Both can't get three points. Augsburg plays who might be the hottest team in the 2.L Liga at the moment, St. Pauli. Osnabrueck hosts Mainz, who are on a roll and pushing for promotion right now.
Agreed. But remember, we have seen many promotion-fighting teams lose in May because the Klassenhalters have more on the line. I expect Mainz to win, but would not be surprised of Osnabrueck fight VERY hard. Same with Wehen, Offenbach and Augsburg. I agree with your point on Augsburg though, they look pretty bad and mentally may not be up for the fight.
The next matchday, FCK has to go to Mainz. Osnabrueck has to go to Jena, who are playing some good football right now, Augsburg has to go to Aachen, Offenbach hosts Gladbach and Wehen has to play a derby at Koblenz.
I think each week it will change as to who is "hot". For the relegation teams I think ANY week that they are mathmatically a candidate they will be hard to beat; doubly so at home.
After that, 1860 has to go to Paderborn. I think 1860 can win there as Paderborn should already be relegated.
Agreed...if already relegated I think 1860 takes them.
That same weekend, Osnabrueck hosts Greuther Fuerth, FCK hosts St. Pauli, Augsburg hosts Koln, and Offenbach and Wehen have to go to Freiburg and Moenchengladbach respectively.
As you said with Paderborn I think holds true for the others: If they any of the teams already have their fate decided then I think their Gegner for that day has to be favorite.
After that is match 33. 1860 hosts Osnabrueck in 1860's final home match of the season. 1860 had better not lose that. FCK goes to Jena.
THAT game is the one I think 1860 will have to win to put it beyond doubt. But as you point out, I think 1860 fate will be already been secured by then.
On the final day, 1860 goes to Aue in what should be Aue's last 2. Liga match for awhile. Don't know if 1860 can win that one, but if they can beat Paderborn and Osnabrueck, I think 1860 will be home free anyhow.
If Klassenhalt is secured by then I think it is a wash game. No one will want to get injured for the summer. 1860 might play as many expiring contracts or young players as they can to get experience. I think that game is a wash.
I know it is close, but I don't think the others will do enough to get past 1860.
As of this week I would agree. Prior to Sunday last though I was nervous.
why can't you believe 1860 will pull an upset or two to save themselves??
History. Because the last time we strung two good hin- and rueckrundes together was 2001....and before that 1994.
Call me what you want. But I believe Reuter when he says he was not and is not worried about relegation.
You probably believe Hillary was under sniper fire in Kosovo too.;) He may call it what he wants, but I know relieft when I see it. He did not want the last few years of hard, honest work to have been for nothing. It was a relief and deep down he knows it too....no matter what he may say publicly.

All together too funny....the red fans are beating themselves up so much on the Bayern-Zenit thread. Well, to be fair, not all of them. It's like they think they are Chelsea or ManUre or Liverpool. Read Ballack's latest interview...even he says Bayern is only a big fish in a little pond and not much outside that pond.:D
And to make it even funnier, on Sat1 they are interviewing Schweinsteiger and asking him who he prefers to meet in the Final (Rangers or Fiorentina). Uh, Mr. Announcer, Bayern needs to MAKE it into the final first.

I was at that match last night. Schweinsteiger was f#cking crap. Why were they interviewing him? Was it before the match?
And to be fair, I wouldn't be so harsh on all the "Red Fans." Quite a few of them here at BigSoccer are all right.
But yes, there are also some of them who deserve your mockery.......

Post match....which is why I was wndering why him. Perhaps because he's the only person who speaks German on the team.:D

And those are the fans to which my mockery is pointed. Case in point: There was a comment on DF's "ticker" thread about the validity of the PK...from a Bayern fan, so I responded that as an 1860 fan even I agreed it was a good PK call. What does a Bayern fan do? Pisses all over me. So typical.

Come on man. Can't you tell when I'm kissing up to the mods?! LOL!! Seriously, yes, as a frequent "contributor" to the Bayern forum, I know exactly what you mean.
They even have their own version of me now. You know, the guy who thinks he knows everything! LOL!! :D
I'm at least trying to quit! (winking smiley here)
But yeah, you are right on about "those" Bayern fans. Some of the good guys over there really don't understand how bad the others are. Especially here.

http://www.tsv1860.de/media/images/2_saison/2007_2008/aufstellungen/gladbach-1860.jpg
Here is the formation against 'gladbach which is the same used against Wehn. The back line had a decent game against Wehen but the middle still went a bit weak on flanking runs. Hopefully Thorandt and Szukala can lock that down. Danny and Lars played a bit too far off attacking players, need more from them. Berki had a slow game and we need more creativity from him....still think he is getting his playing legs back. Bierofka and Wolff will have to be lightning on the wings. Lastly, Toni will have to do better with his chances. He had far too many that he did not do well with last week. Hope he finds is old form.
Game kicks off Sunday. "Gladbach is missing 5-6 starters so there is a chance 1860 could sneak in with a draw. My tipp is 2-1 to 'Gladbach as I think a defensive lapse will cost us. If the score is higher than that my guess is Szukala's contract will not be renewed. He is literally playing for his contract next season, having been out with injury and on the bench a while. Watch for Ledgerwood to get in this game too as a sub at some point.

Who told you that? I only know about Gohouri (who was injured against Fürth & Jena as well) and probably Rob Friend. No problem, since we are able to replace them both.
