Guys, you're acting like he was Kusuckovic. He was FAR better than that. Its not like we signed him thinking he was some an always-healthy, high-scoring, penalty box striker. I think 1860 got what they bought: a free, stop gap, aging, oft-injured, fast winger who has equally as many moments of brilliance as he has moments of pure ambiguity.
But Eddie did call that....as complex as it is.:D

Actually, from what I saw Garry, he wasn't much better than Ku-SUCK-ovic.
I wasn't expecting a star by any means, but I was very disappointed with his performances.
Like I said, he reminded me a lot of Nelson Valdez. He can run all day, but is rarely where he needs to be when he needs to be there.
Believe me, I wanted Josh to stick with 1860 badly, but he just didn't deserve to.
But believe it or not, Josh can probably get a spot with FCN if they lose Ivan Saenko.
Nicky Adler would step into the starting role and FCN would need a backup who can run forever.......
But Eddie did call that....as complex as it is.:D
LMAO!! :D

...about 1860 he would quite his job, move to Muenchen, get a job with 1860's back office and help Reuter run 1860. He could live in my house near Westpark and commute on his bicycle a-la Europeans to Giesing. On the way home he could stop off at Wildmoser's old restaurant and sample the biergarten and WiFi access.
Average summer high in Huntsville= 90F+
Average summer high in Muenchen= 76F

I just don't think Lauth would bring the fire that Bierofka did in his return to 1860. Maybe he would. But seeing what we've seen of him since he left 1860, that wouldn't even excite me.
But if he were to return, of course I would hope that I'm dead wrong.
Bierofka's done well, but I was talking more about the whole Schroth disappointment. We don't want to go through that again. Our memories are probably vastly better than what we'd get on the field.
Goektan is a striker in my opinion. Always has and always will be. I think playing him in midfield seemed to work at first because he and everyone else played over their heads.
I think he would serve 1860 best as a striker.
I don't agree on comparing Goektan to Tyce. I don't see any similarity whatsoever.
As I said, I think Schwarz is crap.
That's your immediate problem. The Bender Twins and too much of this 1860 team still has developing to do. You can't expect them to "develop" well while being pressured for results. I think that's why so many are jumping ship
I wasn't comparing Göktan to Tyce. What I meant is Goektan can thrive at a free-role CAM with a defensive midfielder like Tyce who can feed him and the rest of the attacking players the ball, meaning yes, Schwarz is crap. :D
I don't see Berkant having the finishing skills to be an effective goal-scoring striker. He's an in-between player, not a solid striker, not a textbook #10. Hence our problem. Kurz's challenge is to play him in a position to let him make the plays he can make. Playing CAM/back striker in a 4-3-1-1 is probably his best place. If we had a real #10, he'd probably do well at the 2nd striker role, but 1860 has no such luxury.
I see your point about relying on too many of the young guys to develop, but the Bender twins turn 20 next April. It's getting to be time for them to start producing, at least at a solid 2. Liga level. Then again, I'm not patient when it comes to waiting on the young guys...
I think Wörns will join as long as he doesn't get an 1. Liga offer and as long as Reuter doesn't leave.
As far as goalkeepers go, I'd be more sold on Hofmann than I would be on Tschauner. In my opinion, Tschauner sucks more than anyone on that team except Ku-SUCK-ovic.
However, what you have to remember is that players aren't beating down Reuter's door to sign with 1860. You write like signing those players should be easy.
It will not be. There are too many more desired address in even the 2. Liga than 1860.
I hate to say it that way, but it is fact.
You're right on that count, 1860 won't be coercing good players to sign. We'll get the usual enigma players. Hopefully both Reuter and Wörns is in camp when we break for summer training in July.
Hofmann would be a potential stopgap in goal, but he's running down and I doubt he can play a full season (or a full Runde) anymore. Tschauner isn't the answer either unless he gets a brain transplant. :p Given enough of an available budget, a keeper needs to be brought in. I'm not expecting a Mondragon-like guy, but someone either not too old or someone young with skills (who won't break the bank with a large Ablöse) that can develop into a decent keeper. Who knows, maybe even Rössl will be given a shot.

That's injury man. No one saw that coming.

Gotcha man. My bad. Sorry about that.

Kurz's challenge is to play him in a position to let him make the plays he can make. Playing CAM/back striker in a 4-3-1-1 is probably his best place.
Don't know. He did well enough as a straight striker last season to warrant giving him another shot there. I think 1860 has to be willing to take a chance on a young creative player.
Perhaps even ask Bayern for Toni Kroos on loan even though they will definitely say no, but that's just an example.
I never thought they would give BVB Mats Hummels on loan either, but they did. Of course, their signing Breno possibly had something to do with that, but it is a deal I thought they would never do with us.
I see your point about too much of the Kader needing to develop, but the Bender twins turn 20 next April. It's getting to be time for them to start producing, at least at a solid 2. Liga level. Then again, I'm not patient when it comes to waiting on the young guys...
In 1860's case, you have to be patient. You don't have many other options. It's easy to say this shit as an impatient fan, but if you look at the situation from the eyes of an 1860 executive, there just isn't much choice besides gambling with the club's very existence and trust me, you don't want them to do that.
You're right on that count, 1860 won't be coercing good players to sign. We'll get the usual enigma players. Hopefully both Reuter and Wörns is in camp when we break for summer training in July.
Again, if Reuter is still there, I think the only thing that would stop Wörns from signing with you guys is an offer from an 1. Liga club or an offer from Nuernberg or Duisburg.
Hofmann would be a potential stopgap in goal, but he's running down and I doubt he can play a full season (or a full Runde) anymore.
I think you're wrong. Hofmann didn't break down from routine play as I remember. He's in better shape than you think and is still 10X better than Tschauner in my opinion. I think 1860 feel obligated to play Tschauner becuase they gave him that f#cking contract extension. Tschauner might not even be the fifth best goalkeeper in Munich.....
Tschauner isn't the answer either unless he gets a brain transplant. :p
Every time I see him, I can see a young Forrest Gump saying, "Mama always says stupid is as stupid does....."
I'm sorry. As I said, the kid is athletically gifted, but when I see him in match situations, I think 1860 went and pulled a kid from the bike races at the Olympiapark and put him in goal. He just doesn't seem to have the match awareness to match his athleticism.
I'd rather have an old guy with that awareness and experience than a young guy who can snap as fast as a snake, but has no f#cking clue as to what he's doing.
Given enough of an available budget, a keeper needs to be brought in. I'm not expecting a Mondragon-like guy, but someone either not too old or someone young with skills (who won't break the bank with a large Ablöse) that can develop into a decent keeper.
If I were Reuter, I'd be calling Felix Magath to see what it would take to get Jentzsch off his roster. No one else is going to give them money for Jentzsch if Bayern doesn't. And I know Magath wants to get rid of that contract. I think Jentzsch can be had for 1M or less at this time.
I know I was saying before this past season that there was no way that would happen. But Magath himself has deflated Jentzsch's value.
And if there is anyone who wouldn't mind doing 1860 a favor, it would be Magath.
Who knows, maybe even Rössl will be given a shot.
That might wind up being the answer. Get him some playing time and experience now as BVB did with our current young keeper of the future Marcel Höttecke.
That is, unless Tschauner seriously works on his mental game and tactical awareness this off-season.......

Dude, if you can open the door, I'll run through it. I don't come cheap, but I'm sure more effective for the Euro than what they have now. Open the door... open the door.....

It seems that the Wörns deal is in doubt. But why the hell would we want a player like Alex Klitzpera in defense. Wasn't he sorted out by Alemania? He certainly wouldn't strengthen our defensive department

The only reason I could see is that you guys can't afford much else.

Even though what you have now will surely get you relegated next season??
I don't think much of Kitzpera myself, but dude, you need to face facts.
No one any better is beating down 1860's door wanting in. No one any better will be beating down 1860's door wanting in.
Kitzpera is at least a fighter. And heaven knows you guys can certainly use some of that......

i'd prefer Rodrigo Costa who's also cheaper and still willing to come back.
Does anybody know details about the Tiffert rumour?

Yeah. You would prefer an unemployed 32 year-old Brazilian to a 30 year-old German who at least has an employer at the 2. Liga level, just because that Brazilian previously played for 1860??
Dude. Come on.
If I didn't have a job and no one wanted me anymore, I'd declare my desire to return to my old club too.

I don't. That would be an interesting one.

To do what? Scrub boots? Occupy that final spot on the bench??
Must be something like that if he didn't take it.
Sure as hell can't find any reports on it either.
Oh. Wait. I get it. You mean he loves 1860 so much he'd rather come back here to fight relegation, right?
I think it's more like he'd love to come back because 1860 are the only ones in a position to seriously consider taking him.
(Tiffert) would be nice for RM...
Would be yes, but he won't come free either.....

Oh, dear Lord no!!! He is a Brazilian Berhalter or worse. He has not had a club since last fall. Does three clubs in two years say anything? Lieber Berhalter und Torben als ihm!!!!
Does anybody know details about the Tiffert rumour?
Its all over the German boards based on a brief note in the paper version of th Münchner AZ. As far as Tiffert goes, got to love the financials on him: he goes to RB Salzburg for an undisclosed sum and a year later to MSV on a free!?!? He has a contract through 2010 with them, so Keith is right he won't be free.

I saw the note on Kicker about Lech Poznari midfielder Przemysław Pitry being looked at by 1860. My German is terrible but it sounded like it would be a free transfer.
There is also a note about Kurz wanting to keep Schäffler from prying hands I think.
