Eddie. Garry and I go back to some of Bayern's old business tactics. At least that's why I hate him.
I will admit I'm softening because I do know the man is also one of the best in the world at what he does and I'd kill to have a man like him running my club.
I understand, the Kirsch deal still pisses me off as well. However the guy looks out for his club, and you are right - we'd probably all want him running our clubs.
I guess the thing that softened me up was meeting people who have had dealings with him and how much they respect him for treating them fairly.

I believe that Eddie. I totally believe it.

I don't hate Hoeness. The guy knows the business and is a pretty fair guy.
That just shows that you don't know this redass. He's the most hated man on the other side of Giesing. Attributes like sly, cunning and hyperarrogant are attached to his personality. What you stated sound like: I don't hate Bush. He's is American and never meant to do Iraq any harm.

Good news for change:
Wolff's contract won't be renewed. It's good to get rid off this underperforming Yank!
Pagenburg back to FCN. Another waste of space gone. Hopefully they will take Schroth too.
Lutz (Topmanager for SZ) states his interest in working for 1860 after vL is gone.
IMO after this year's disaster and yesterday's shameful result Kurz should get his marching order. The man has failed to prove that the team can improve with him. He wasn't even able to perform with 1860II. It's time for him to go.

ROFL...you can dislike someone and still respect their business prowess. Gates, Trump, Buffett....all assholes BUT they know business and are GOOD at it.

Yeah, let's get Lorant back. Oh, and let's see if Wildmoser is out on parole so we can get him. And let's buy some more Brits because they never underperform.
I would not call Wolff "underperforming". Those who know his career saw him play EXACTLY as was expected. Hell, while we are listing under performers, you can put the ENTIRE Kader up for that honor. IMHO, I think the only person who consistently performed to his level was Bierofka. Everyone else seemed to get teh 1860 Rueckrunde Curse and played like crap.
In terms of new players, I hear Gibb is on trial with Pauli. Now there is a strong, tall central defender.

Indeed. At least he did the same job without a Hoppe and gave the fans a couple of enjoyable seasons..

And we all saw that it was no value for money we need so desperately!

And we see how well he did at 'haching or in Turkey, Cyrpus or Iran since then. He was the right coach at the right time for 1860 back then. He is not the same man anymore and 1860 is not the same team. Football has passed the likes of Lorant by.

How quickly we forget how well he was playing in the hinrunde and the goals he set-up in key games. Not saying he was great, but he was not more shiite than any other player on that Kader this year.

I was merely referring to his time at 1860. I agree that he's history, but I'm concerned that we will not progress as long has Kurz is our coach. I just don't think that he has the abilities to lead this team to a better future. While there were glimpses of good work at times I think he is not able to push the players to go the extra mile.

Dude, I think Kurz just doesn't have enough to work with. That is not a very good team you guys have there right now.
Too many holes. It isn't Kurz' fault management doesn't have the means to fill the holes.

Agreed. Defense has always been a real problem. We used to have few issues with scoring, but now that seems to be a need too. I think we are okay in midfield, just need speed on BOTH sides.
I would be happy with a strong central defender, better keeper and more consistent striker. Those would be my three key acquisitions.

I think we'll do well in that department when Benny Lauth returns. Him and Bierofka plus Goekthan will solve a lot of striking problems.

IMHO Lauth's best days are behind him and I would rather get a PROVEN striker. The guys has played nearly 40 games and only scored 1 goal. He's not the same player he was when he played with 1860. Besides, he has a contract through until 2010 and we would have to pay an Abloese for him. Unless he were free he would not even be worth looking at, let alone signing.

Is there any chance Hannover would let him get out of his contract or release him on a free? I'd be all for it we don't have to pay an Ablöse or do another part-exchange. Granted he's not the same player as even a few years ago, but I'd take 30% of a 2002-03 Benny Lauth over DiSalvo or Kukukovic right now.
Gotta side with Lionhead on Josh Wolff. I was a fan back when he was with the Chicago Fire and I was expecting more from him. Maybe we got him 2-3 years and a few injuries too late. Renewing him wouldn't be cheap, either - and I'd rather that cash go elsewhere.
I agree that defense should be the first priority, but with Ziegenbein, Wolff and Pagenburg gone, we have to address attacking midfield (especially on the wings) unless we have a U23 kid ready to step up. Of course, we need a striker & possibly keeper as well.
Gonna be a busy offseason.
Kurz is a bit rough around the edges, but I'm convinced he'll develop into a top coach. I'm hoping he has a long career here.

The problem is, he isn't even 30% of a 2002-03 Benny Lauth. This guy is f#cking awful.
But then again, maybe he would be better in the 2. Liga. He sure as hell doesn't belong in the 1. Liga. That's for damned sure.
On the chances of Hannover merely releasing him, I think those chances are slim and none.
They know that with his name, someone will still give them some money for him.
I don't think Hannover's management is sitting around wondering how they can help out 1860......

I said the same thing about Wolff a week or so ago. Garry disagreed with me too.

Honestly, if you guys don't lose anymore and acquire Woerns, I think you'll be "OK" for the 2. Liga in defense next season.
You do need more, but I don't think you guys will be able to afford much. And this team has other holes.
I think midfield is a bigger problem than some of you realize. You guys have nearly zero creativity in midfield. I think some of you really overrate Goektan.
I'd move him back up front with di Salvo and get another creative midfielder if you can.
IMHO, Schwarz is pretty much crap.
Gonna be a busy off-season.
Depends on who is still there to run it.

I think he can too, but whether he does it at 1860 or not depends on what happens with management........

Good points, but the striker position has to be upgraded. After last summer's ex-1860 acquisitions not quite working out, maybe you're right that Lauth would be a bad idea.

IMO: Göktan is best utilized as a free-role CAM. The problem with that is he needs a couple of solid midfielders around him and a good CM feeding him and the strikers the ball.
We haven't had someone like that for a while, maybe when Tyce was healthy. Schwarz is an OK back defensive midfield stopper, but he's not good at switching the run of play back forward. Maybe one of the Bender twins can develop into that role.
If this management sh*tstorm blows over, we should do OK, I think there's enough cash to bring in 3-5 decent players in on free transfers. I really hope for Wörns, but that's a best case scenario. A solid center defender, an enigma striker (why else would we get one cheap), a few midfielders and an extra keeper (not sold on either Hofmann or Tschauner) would be a nice pickups for 2008-2009.

I just don't think Lauth would bring the fire that Bierofka did in his return to 1860. Maybe he would. But seeing what we've seen of him since he left 1860, that wouldn't even excite me.
But if he were to return, of course I would hope that I'm dead wrong.

Goektan is a striker in my opinion. Always has and always will be. I think playing him in midfield seemed to work at first because he and everyone else played over their heads.
I think he would serve 1860 best as a striker.

I don't agree on comparing Goektan to Tyce. I don't see any similarity whatsoever.
As I said, I think Schwarz is crap.
Maybe one of the Bender twins can develop into that role.
That's your immediate problem. The Bender Twins and too much of this 1860 team still has developing to do. You can't expect them to "develop" well while being pressured for results. I think that's why so many are jumping ship.

I think Wörns will join as long as he doesn't get an 1. Liga offer and as long as Reuter doesn't leave.
As far as goalkeepers go, I'd be more sold on Hofmann than I would be on Tschauner. In my opinion, Tschauner sucks more than anyone on that team except Ku-SUCK-ovic.
However, what you have to remember is that players aren't beating down Reuter's door to sign with 1860. You write like signing those players should be easy.
It will not be. There are too many more desired address in even the 2. Liga than 1860.
I hate to say it that way, but it is fact.

Lionhead you seem like a nice guy, well actually you don't, but I really don't care.
Have any of your former business partners dealt with him? Have any of your former employers told you good things about him?
Probably not. Well I can say yes to the above questions.
