As long as we stay up in the 2. Liga, I can't see how the board wouldn't be thrilled at how the club has transformed since Reuter's been here. We're not in the red, we're out of the Allianz debacle, and we've been given the highest rating for developing players. Even a little patience, I'm sure, would pay off moving forward.
The question is... "Pay off" how? Promotion? Or will Sechzig continue to see its better young talent move on? I cannot help but think that if Sechzig can keep a good core of players together for two terms, they could make a serious run at promotion. The result? More money flowing in, to some degree, which could help keep/sign players.
Am I way out in left field on this?

I will have to concur... The offense has been seemingly invisible for some time now. That will not help a GK, I do not care who it is.
True, but a very good keeper would have saved half the boners Tschauner made and MAY have changed the results of a few of those games.
I re-watched the Bayern-Bremen game where Weise got lit up for 4 goals this season. Even getting lit up like that Weise was OH SOOOOO close to many of them: even the Andy Ottl shot that hit the upper left 90. That was one hell of a shot and STILL Weise - out of position - was close.
Tschauner is like this keeper we had in college....he would dive at anything just to ham it up and make it look good for the chicks. Pissed the field players off so much we finally put "Atomic Balm" in his shorts.

On another note, have the new Sechzig kits been confirmed yet?
I would love to see Hacker Pschorr become the fixture on the front of the shirt... A long shot, I know.

To be released in early July. Expect it to leak in June. 1860 is usually later than all other teams for some reason. My guess is they have the kids in Pakistan working over time to get them done for Bayern, hence why 1860 is later than most.

It will.....for the IIs. The pro team's sponsor is Trenkwalder at least for another year I think. Hacker-Pschorr does the IIs and Stadtsparkasse does the U19s. I think most want 1860 to go back to a bier sponsor, but Paulaner already spreads enough money around I doubt they will go back to Hauptsponsor status for anyone. In a bier-drinking public like Germany there is hardly any need to.:D

The odds on my getting s IIs shirt here is slim and nill. But I may be able to get one for 1860 when they come out.
Lowenbrau could also be an option again, no?

The odds of anyone getting a IIs shirt is slim. they just don't sell them. Main reason is no one would buy the Pro kits if they could get the Hacker-Pschorr kits.
As for a new sponsor, that will most certainly come. As with most things sponsors seem to rotate with smaller clubs every 2-3 years. Not sure who else they are courting but you can bet is darn near nothing to do with how it looks on the jersey and more to do with how much they are willing to pay.:D That said, few bier companies need to advertise (at least on jerseys) at all....especially in Germany. My guess is it will be long time before we see another brewery on a major team, though currently there is Bielefeld (Krombacher), Paderborn (Warsteiner) and Osnabrueck (Herforder)...but those are not really beers; more like varnish for polishing old brass.

I could think of a few breweries that would want to get in on that... Kloster Andechs, Weihenstephaner, Roehrlbraeu (Straubing)...
Just throwing names out there, really. I have no clue...

So is my math off or did I misunderstand the situation...? Are Sechzig safe from the drop?
Nice to see at least ONE point from die Loewen...

It has been alluded to in this thread before, but here is the latest chapter
Zoff bei den Löwen
http://www.sueddeutsche.de/sport/zweiteliga/artikel/589/174070/
"Der Fisch stinkt vom Kopf her, und bei [uns] ist der Kopf der Präsident", sagte Ziffzer und kam zu dem vernichtenden Urteil: "Dieser Präsident ist eine Schande."
Als Ziffzer wenige Minuten nach seinen öffentlichen Äußerungen in den VIP-Raum kam, trat ihm von Linde entgegen und sagte: "Sie sind fristlos entlassen." Ziffzer habe nie verstanden, "wer Koch und wer Kellner ist".

Thanks to Jena still playing with heart and not rolling over.....much to FCK's surprise.
However, Tschauner proved today that he is BY FAR the worst friggin' keeper in the world. The "goal" that he allowed was a "patzer" of MONUMENTAL proportions!!! I literally stopped watching the game at theat point and simply snuck a peak at the box score. Was not going to waste another Sunday watching his f' ups!!!
As for Ziffzer being fired, well, he has a habit of opening his mouth at the wrong time. Good financial guy but we don't call say the President is a sham...even if it is true. Von Linde will get his soon enough, as will Wettberg. If they get rid of Reuter it will result in the relegation of 1860 eventually. Those two think THEY have all the answers. What they fail to realize is the stability this team has enjoyed since last January is a direct result of Ziffzer and Reuter's work.
I am hoping that von Linde and Wettberg shut the Hell up and realize they are just figure-head, know-nothings about foorball and let the REAL pros do their job.

yeah, the whole "I'm the boss" comment smacks of insecurity, and he should get his soon enough - hopefully not when it is too late though.

Yep, it's official. We stay in the 2nd Bundesliga next season. YAY!
So far Duisburg & Rostock are relegated down to the 2. Liga and Borussia M'Gladbach and Köln are promoted to the Bundesliga. The last slots up and down are to be decided next week.
I'd like to see 3 points by our guys next week to move up a bit, so this season doesn't looks so awful, at least on the final standings chart.
Ziffzer's axing isn't that much of a surprise. He always knew the absolute worst time to say something in the press.
Hopefully that's the end of the firings. They'd be foolish to axe Reuter or Kurz. But, I'd expect both to be on a bit of a shorter leash next season.

Dude, Tschauner isn't that good, but I wouldn't call him "leaky" either.
Footy, change your mind on that after this week? :D

Am I the only one to think that, with the teams relegated to 2.BL that Die Löwen can make a push for promotion next term?
Just thinking out loud.. All of you make commence laughter. :D

See my previous post on what they (1860) need to do as a club posted in this thread. In short, they need to balance experience and youth and get someone else who can net a few. Oh, and stay healthy in key positions.
If you look at the teams that succeed, this is the same recipe.

I'd rather they make promotion in a few years and stay up than make a push next year only to be relegated a year later.
Just about any team can throw itself at promotion and manage it if they have the funds, staying up is another story entirely.

Here, here. Shit, I would settle for two decent back-to-back rounds in the 2BL first.:D They have YET to put together two decent rounds since after the first season of being relegated. And how did we do that? With a team of experienced (yet aging) players. Footy is right, we need more experience to balance out the "yout's"
("did you say, 'yout's'?"):D

I completely get what you both are saying. It is a marathon, not a sprint. Sechzig have shown they can play well in spurts, but to string it together for a complete term, let alone a couple of terms, remains to be seen.
I too would rather they work hard for a longer stay in 1.BL and not just a flash in the pan kind of stay up there...
