Just to keep this board active... (since it seems the few Albion fans on BigSoccer avoid it) I'll periodically post recent Albion scores on this thread.
Walsall 4-1 WBA
A brace from V***a old boy Paul Merson and poor Albion defending gives the Saddlers the win in this Black Country derby (lowercase "d").
WBA 4-0 Brentford, Carling Cup Rd. 2
Rob Hulse's home debut sees him bag two against Division 2 outfit Brentford. Bernt Haas and Scott Dobie also score.
WBA 4-1 Burnley
Hulse and Sakiri's first league goals lead Albion their first league win. Lee Hughes' two goals minutes apart near the end seal the three points for West Brom.

Watford 0-1 WBA
Is Hughesie no longer "useless"? Lee Hughes was in the right place for a headed goal in the 56th minute. A brilliant clean sheet by Russell Hoult gave Albion the away win.

Always wondered why the Albion fans that you spot around BS never seem to pop in here. I know theres other, much more used boards, but as they're already here....
Oh well.
Up The Baggies!

I usually look round the Rivals (wbaunofficial) & westmidlands.com/E&S boards. I'm registered at Rivals but rarely post.
Since this board is here, however, I figured it ought to be used. A number of the other non-Premier teams' boards have decent use, while many of the Premiership teams boards are little used at all.
And all of the Dingles on BigSoccer have crawled out of their corners over on the W****s board. But I've resisted tempation to constantly go over there to slag them, unlike other Albion fans on other boards.
... at least not till end of the season anyway. ;)

Albion 1 Preston 0
Hughesie's 44th minute penalty was enough in a pretty poor match. If we can do this when not playing so well, I'm looking forward to when we show what we can do.

Another 'one-nil to the Albion', on a penalty no less. This is beginning to sound somewhat familiar.
A win is a win, another three points. But when we face our promotion rivals in this division, Albion's play must improve.
Hopefully with a full squad now at Megson's disposal, it will.

Megson really needs to spring for more attackers. The back line and midfield are pretty stable and Hoult's got a terrific backup-we just need more punch up front. That's what killed the Baggies last season. I'm glad Hughes is back in fine form. This should be a fun season!

I think we are fine as far as forwards go, if Rob Hulse lives up to the potential he has clearly shown in the first few matches. And hopefully in this division, Hughes, Dobie and Dichio will be better able to create opportunities.
If we end up selling Jason Roberts at some point (though I would prefer he stop sulking and withdraw his transfer request), I would think Megson might look for a replacement up front, perhaps.

It's time for Dobie to break loose! He has the ability for sure.

Jason Roberts is still the best striker at the club on his day - too early to compare Hulse even though he looks to have a better all round game. I know Roberts wants to leave but if he don't play he's not in the shopwindow and against Preston we needed someone exactly like Roberts who with his pace could have easily exploited the extra space. Dichio was non-existent on Monday and Roberts could have murdered that back line.

I really like Jason and it's a shame he wants to leave the club but don't you think he needs to limit his pouting? He's falls into the classic trap when calls don't immediately go his way he tends to sulk and take his time in getting back into the flow of the game? When he's "on" he's a real terror but if he feels like he's getting shafted then he's nearly worthless.

The logical conclusion is that Roberts has been banished to the reserves for his want-away attitude... but could it be possible Megson is waiting for the first transfer window to close before he gives Jason chances in the Albion first team?
Roberts is playing regularly in the Premier Reserve League North, right? Might the level of play be comparable to something between the First and Second Divisions? Since he remains on the transfer list and is playing in front of the staff from top flight clubs (alright, reserve coaches) I would say he is in the shop window.

Derby County 0 West Bromwich Albion 1
'Boring boring Albion' go top of Division 1 with another 1-0 win at Pride Park. The Baggies create some chances, but only Rob Hulse's 76th minute hook off a set piece was the difference.

West Bromwich Albion 4 Ipswich Town 1
Who Roberts?? Rob Hulse again proves his worth with a pair of goals as Albion beat the Tractor Boys for the first time in 19 years. Ipswich old boy Thomas Gaardsoe got the first goal, and an unfortunate own goal by Town's Drissa Diallo completed the Albion rout.
The Baggies remain two points clear of Wigan & West Ham at the top of the First Division.

Yes big one against the Latics Tuesday night... we'll see how Albion does against some half-decent competition.
W****s are bottom of the Premier League...
Albion are top of the First Division...
So technically, we are still one place behind them. But in terms of quality, I've no doubt Albion would seem the better side. And didn't we have at least three points in the Premiership at this time last year? :D

After five games we had six points.
(Old joke alert)
What's the difference between Wolves and a Tooth Pick?
A tooth pick has two points.

Wigan 1 West Bromwich Albion 0
Wigan go top and the Albion fall to fourth after this 1-0 match at the JJB Stadium. Ex-Birmingham City striker Geoff Horsfield got the 45th-minute winner for the Latics as Wigan was able to mount better pressure on Russell Hoult's goal. Latics keeper John Filan, rarely troubled by Albion attackers, earned the clean sheet as the Albion failed to get at least one goal for the first time this season.

Crystal Palace 2 West Bromwich Albion 2
Albion should well have had three points today at Selhurst Park, but literal last-second heroics by the Eagles' Andrew Johnson gave Crystal Palace the draw.
Jason Koumas had looked to have the winner when his 89th-minute free kick beat Palace keeper Cedric Bertheline gave the Baggies a one goal edge.
All the goals came in the second half, with Rob Hulse adding another to his impressive league tally in the 52nd minute and Dougie Freedman equalising for Palace a few minutes later.
How infuriating. Two leads, both lost. Second, in what seemed like an hour of stoppage time.
I know having Volmer out, and losing Siggy, threw off the backline...but sheesh. Hope Danson is okay, sounded awful hearing them talk online.
Yea, with the schedule this month, Megson's gotta make sure everyone's on the same page, giving a view to extra minutes...(plus, some nursing knocks)...still would be nice to see what we had going before the Wigan 3-6-1.
Coming up...two straight at the Hawthorns after Hartlepool, while Wigan travels to Coventry, who beat Reading, (a new manager this week?), this past Saturday, then on to Cardiff. Sheff.Utd visits Bradford. West Ham and Forest, both spanked on the road, will be home to Millwall and Derby.
5-1-2, 16pts...okay, 24 hours away from yesterday, I'll take it, but last second blunders are a bad habit to get into, and can breed instability at all levels.
