That Koumas bender was beautiful! Megson's grin was ear to ear. Thank heavens for Albion World.

West Bromwich Albion 1 - Gillingham 0

Albion again left a match in doubt until late... but Lee Hughes' 79th-minute strike gave the Baggies another crucial three points.

The next two matches - away to Millwall on Easter Monday and Sunderland away next Saturday - could likely determine Albion's chances to win the league, and will either widen or narrow the gap between them and the 'chasing pack'.

Millwall 1 West Bromwich Albion 1

Koumas & Gaardsoe are sent off, Dichio scores for the FA Cup finalists, AJ equalises, and Sunderland lose.

Almost had a nervous breakdown when the commentators falsely said it was a penalty in injury time.

Back on top of the league (for a couple of hours at least) and the lead over Sunderland stretched by a point.

Thanks for that, John Boy. Unfortunately I was too busy getting ready for and driving to work this morning to listen to the match.

A point away at Millwall with Sunderland stumbling is certainly good. Hopefully Norwich will stumble along the way and give us an opening.

And I certainly don't need to stress now the importance of Saturday's trip to Wearside.

Sunderland 0 - West Bromwich Albion 1 :D

Albion and their fans would've been happy with a scoreless draw in this crucial match at the Stadium of Light - and it nearly was. But one final rush by Lloyd Dyer led to a Jason Koumas goal at the end of extra time, sending the thousands of Baggies supporters into the stratosphere.

Albion has widened the gap between them and the play-off places, and could well clinch promotion with another win. AND... catching Norwich for the title is still a possibility.

Interesting listening to all the Sunderland fans on 606 critical of Albion's football... they sound like quite a few Albion fans, as a matter of fact.

Every Albion fan would like to see the side produce more goals, better attacking and all that... but at this stage of the seaon, I'm all for whatever it takes to win.

Bitterness, pure and simple. A draw would've neeb a great result but we got the win because they left too many players up front.

One day football fans will see that defending is as much an art as attacking and we will get the plaudits we deserve.

Until then, fcuk 'em.

WE ARE GOING UP (again) !!!!!!!

West Bromwich Albion 2 - Bradford City 0

It's finally official: WE ARE GOING UP!!! :D

This afternoon, thousands of Baggies supporters celebrated Albion's return to the top flight after this comprehensive win against the Bantams at The Hawthorns. Geoff Horsfield and Lee Hughes fired home the goals in the second half.

Sunderland's earlier draw with Wigan at the JJB Stadium had already secured Albion's place in the Premiership.

It would be nice to cap off the season as champions... but we'll need to be perfect, while Norwich will need to stumble. It's not impossible...

Any ideas as to whom GM will go after this summer?

Well, I think a lot of us have ideas about what kinds of players GM would like to go after... but while this season is not over (and the champion not yet decided) I think transfer talk/speculation will wait until the start of the close season.

Reading 1 - West Bromwich Albion 0

Somewhat of a let-down this afternoon as Albion succumb to a late goal by Reading's Steven Sidwell. Both teams were going for it in the first half but no goals resulted.

Norwich's 3-2 win against PNE puts the Canaries five points ahead of Albion - which means they will need to lose their remaining matches for the Baggies to have a chance to win the First Division. :(

Stoke 4 West Bromwich Albion 1

Shall I comment on this debacle? No. Let's just enjoy for now that we're going back up, and that this is truly a hiccough at the end of the season.

Congratulations to Norwich City for winning the First Division.

Baggies 0:2 Forest

Listened online.

Albion: Hoult, Chambers, Moore, Gaardsoe, Robinson, (Dyer 82'), O'Connor, (Sakiri 55'), Gregan, Koumas, Clement, Hughes, Hulse, (Dobie 61')

First half - ouch. Forest controls play. Gareth Williams scores in 4'.
Second 45 MUCH better, Albion complete reversal, outshoots Nottingham, 13-4, (with 5 on target). Several times we couldn't finish. Should have come away with SOMETHING from this. Dyer only on in last 7 minutes! David Johnson scores in stoppage time to seal it. Three losses in succession for the promoted ones - doesn't feel right, ahhh, who cares, right?? Up we go!

Sunderland, Hammers, Tractor Boys, and Palace in playoffs.
Wimbledon, Bradford...and Walsall going the wrong way. Walsall by one goal - Gillingham stay.

Thanks for the report, jw...

With the goal of promotion sealed, the Albion play like school children in the latter days of the year: can't concentrate, looking forward to summer spent on some sunny Spanish beach before the pre-season, the very will sapped from their brains. I suppose we as fans can forgive them this now.

But as far as the changes that need to be made between now and the start of the Premiership campaign... the Albion had better not be caught sleeping.
