It appears that the reserves have beat their counterparts from the custard bowl 2-1. Any win against them is a good 'un!
Thomas Gaardsoe has (deservedly) been called up to the Denmark squad to face England.

I just remembered that the only Black County derbies against the Wulfs this year would be in the Premier Reserve League North... Great to hear that we dumped the Dingles tonight. :D
The match was at Kidderminster, right? Do you know if there a lot of people at the ground?

The crowd at Aggborough was 3,724.
Compared with 2,401 for the last game at Aggborough between Kidderminster & Cambridge.

West Ham 3 West Bromwich Albion 4
The match this afternoon at Upton Park certainly ranks as one of the greatest comebacks in the history of West Bromwich Albion. :D :D
The Hammers came out of the gate flying, Jermain Defoe scoring their first goal less than a minute after the opening whistle. Eight minutes on, another goal from Brian Deane. Another seven minutes and it was 3-0 West Ham. Given Albion's lack of goals, it could have been the beginning of a massive rout.
But Rob Hulse kept Albion's faint hopes alive after scoring twice before half time.
Unfortunately for West Ham, the equalising goal came on an own goal from the foot of Deane off a Jason Koumas corner.
Lee Hughes was the hero again, completing the fight back by getting Albion's fourth goal in the 77th minute.
EDIT: Oh yeah, this report would not be complete without mentioning that Defoe was sent off for a tough tackle on Sean Gregan at half time... Albion's comeback was certainly aided by the fact that Hammers only had 10 men on the pitch in the second half.

West Bromwich Albion 0 - Reading 0
Russell Hoult and American keeper Marcus Hahnemann both kept clean sheets but saw little by way in front of them as neither the Baggies nor the Royals could muster a goal.
Albion dominated possession and chances, particularly in the second half. But close chances for Hulse, Hughes and recently-returned Dichio were unsuccessful.
Albion remain at the top of the First Division table, a point above Norwich City and two ahead of Wigan Athletic and Sheffield United with a game in hand of all three.

Another slightly disappointing game, but if Haas had put away both his golden chances then the game would have looked completely different; a solid display and a win.
However we're still top and I think we will win both matches against Cardiff and Forest next week.

Cardiff City 1 - West Bromwich Albion 1
Welsh international Jason Koumas scored a crucial goal shortly after half-time this evening at Ninan Park - not in the red of Wales, but rather Albion stripes.
But Jason's Welsh team-mate Robbie Earnshaw scored on a penalty to deny two additional points to Megson's men. Ref Brian Curson had judged that Bernt Haas had tripped Cardiff's Mark Bonner just inside the box.
Both sides sought a winner in the final half-hour, but missed chances.
Norwich City's draw at Coventry City means Albion remain top of the table at the moment.

Any point away from home is a good point. Top of the table sounds really good at this point in the season!

Mod's note: Sorry this is late. I didn't get to listen to the match Saturday as I was helping away helping my parents move.
Nottingham Forest 0 - West Bromwich Albion 3
Two superb goals from Jason Koumas, coupled with an own goal by Forest's Louis-Jean and brilliant-as-usual Albion defending gave West Brom the three points at the City Ground. This win - one of the more comprehensive Albion victories this season - kept the Baggies top of the First Division.
Anybody see it?
Apparently this was Jase's best yet! He even struck the ball that bounced off Louis-Jean for the own goal?
I am curious, some internet reports say that Deech looked good, and some said he was poor? I know Meg's is looking for help up front, but I was wondering if DD has turned it up a notch since returning from Derby.
Also, where is Artim? And Joost?
Nice to have "Big Dave" back out there!

With Hughesie out indefinitely because of his legal trouble, Deech is fighting to cement his place in the side. One of the reasons he wanted Albion to extend his loan was because he was stuck on the subs bench with Hulse and Hughes doing so well in the early part of the season.
Interested to know about Sakiri and Volmer, though - Joost in particular because of the various spotty performances Phil Gilchrist has had this season.
And yeah it's good that Moore is match-fit again... though it's also good that Megson is easing him back into it.
Just saw Jase's goals!
Wow, Houlty clears, (from his 6 yard box), to Koumas, (well, you've all heard it by now), he dekes one, goes to 27 yards out and chips Darren Ward. Brilliant!
Own goal off a JK free kick, from 18 yards deep, and on the right touchline - far post, Louis-Jean has to react, boom, 0:2!
Lastly, Jase breaks just past halfway line, left side, on a nice pass from Robinson, who was on the left side near the touchline, Koumas cuts right at the 18, bends it low towards the far post around Ward.
Clear-cutting of Forest is complete!
Now...ManU on Wednesday...PO'd from losing to Chelski?
This should be good!!
:D

Jase's goals were fantastic. Paul Hart said he didn't 'mean' the first. What the hell was he trying to do then? Hit the Jones family in row 8?
Just noticed we've got the Boing Boing Baggies Baggies tagline. Good stuff.
Come On You Baggies!

No problem. Ask and we shall receive. :D
I'll probably create a poll thread in a few months' time if it looks good for Albion to bounce back to the top flight. Might be worth a change then...
For now, here's to a good result against Fergie's Babes tomorrow night.

West Bromwich Albion 2 - Manchester United 0
The Baggies swept aside what was essentially a Manchester United reserve team to continue their march into the quarter-finals of the Carling Cup.
Bernt Haas set the tone early after his sixth-minute volley off a Neil Clement cross beat United's Roy Carroll.
Albion almost doubled their tally in the 23rd minute when Jason Koumas was fouled in the box by Danny Pugh. But Jase's attempt from the spot was parried away by Carroll.
Despite good ball movement and good attacking play, the Red Devils could get but few solid attempts on Hoult's goal. And Hoult feasted on those shots did test him.
Scott Dobie sealed the victory a few minutes after entering the match as a sub, heading another Clement cross into the United goal in the 56th minute.
West Brom have drawn Arsenal at home in the Carling Cup quarter final.

So good to see Scott get some quality action. He needs this little boost for his confidence. BOING BOING!! I don't care who ManUre fielded-a win's a win and I'm greatly looking forward to the Arsenal match.
Hey, you throw a team of reserves in a cup tie at The Hawthorns - of course you're going to get your Haas Bernt!!

Let's hope the same happens with Arsenal, who are going to follow United's lead and throw the kids at us.
Arsenal's kiddies did thrash the Dingles' first team... But come on... that was the Dingles. :D

West Bromwich Albion 1 - West Ham United 1
The Baggies couldn’t get a goal past David James, so it took an unexpected assist from West Ham’s Hayden Mullins to preserve a point in a dreary match at The Hawthorns.
On what should have been the safe clearance of a Scott Dobie cross, Mullins headed back into James’ net from 12 yards in the 81st minute.
Hammers had taken the lead earlier in the second half when the Albion back line hesitated for a split second. The defenders waited for the ref to blow his whistle when Marlon Harewood was taken down on the edge of the box. But ref hadn’t stopped play, and the ball went through to Brian Deane who beat an outstretched Russell Hoult.
Despite relentless pressure in the first half, the Albion had few chances to test James.

Looked to be tiring towards the end. Thought the first half was probably our best passing performance since, well, Wednesday. There wasn't much hoofing and we kept the ball well but we didn't create (m)any real chances to test England's Number Two.
'Our' goal was a perfect header into the top corner, James had no chance.
