Ok. Well, I won't be able to make it, but I was thinking that, with the season opener just under a month away now, people who can may want to start with the travel plans. It'd be cool if we had a presence there to kick of the season right.

Maybe we can meet at ME's and work on some chants for those who might be planning on attending. Something about the Patriots being the worst team in New Mexico or something? I don't know.

I've been planning on going to ME's to watch some USL-1 games this year. The schedule is here (http://usl1.uslsoccer.com/recentnews/220789.html). Unfortunately, I have something the night of the first game, so I won't be there for that.

I'm also not able to do a road trip to El Paso, as much fun as it sounds, riding in a car with y'all for 10 hours. Each way. ;)

The season is fast approaching!

Well according to their site they stream their games online, so we should be able to watch from Austin, even if some of us can't travel the 600 miles to see the match in person.

El Paso is in Texas, not New Mexico. Common probably actually, as no one in NM, TX or Old Mexico want to claim El Paso.

If anyone chooses to make the trip, I would encourage you to stay on the west side of the Franklin Mtns that split El Paso into east and west. I'm not sure where the stadium is, but having grown up just north of there and been in the city a ton, it's a bit...safer.

I know. It was meant to be an insult. No offense to any New Mexicans out there.

Yeah, that's really below the belt to us New Mexicans...:)

You know, I seriously considered trying to make it out there for that first game. The sheer craziness of it, plus it being the very first Aztex game, appealed to me. But it doesn't look like I'm going to be able to pull it off.

However, the next El Paso away game, alllllll the way on the other end of the schedule (very last game of the regular season in fact), may be a different story. By a huge coincidence, my son will be starting a week-long stay at the Buffalo Trails Boy Scout Reservation that very day, July 19. That camp is out in West Texas, south of I-10 near Balmorhea, and only (only! ;)) 3 hours from El Paso. How could I not make that work? :D
