View Full Version : Stadium expansion...coincidence, or is there a reason for it?

The Bundesliga season has just started, but of the matches I've seen, I've already seen two home grounds undergoing renovation/expansion (Hannover and...I forget, maybe Wolsburg).
My question is, is this coincidence? Or are many grounds being renovated? And if it's the 2nd, are there new regulations for stadiums?

I'm pretty sure all the World Cup 2006 stadia are being worked on...

WC of course is the main reason. This currently affects Hannover, Frankfurt, Cologne, Kaiserslautern and Berlin. Other clubs built new stadiums (or are still building) independent of the WC simply for economic reasons - all old stadiums mainly offered standing tickets and you simply have no chance to be competitive in Bundesliga with the resulting mini-income possibilities.
