World Soccer Daily just said that Thierry Henry has had discussions with the new Seattle MLS franchise. Wow, if it is true, just wow.

TH14 on the Field Turf of Qwest???? I'd be happy but somehow Seattle seems too small for him.

It's the size issue that makes this unbelievable, but I wouldn't be surprised if he came to America.

IIRC he enjoys American life and NY especially, and he's been rubbish for Barcelona this year...there is very much a fork sticking out of him.

There are 4,000,000 people in the Seattle area. Another 3,000,000 a few hours north in Vancouver, BC and another 2,500,000 a few hours south in Portland. Ever hear of Microsoft? Boeing? Amazon.com? Starbucks? Costco? Nordstrom? All from Seattle. Plus Seattle has the best large soccer venue in the U.S. It isn't small. It isn't small market.

Also, the Northwest is a lot like France climate and agriculturally.

As for the climate maybe Normandy and Western Wash have similarities but I've spent time in the South of France and it's apples to oranges my friend.

lets see here. 9 cities that have MLS teams have more people in their city then Seattle (city only, not metro area. I'm guessing Seattle has more people in it's metro area then say Columbus, OH), so I'm going to go ahead and say that Seattle is on the small market end of the MLS. and there is nothing wrong with that. I love Seattle and I think it'd be awesome if Henry ended up there!

Talk about a Seattle apologist. If you're a Euro, you're going to inherently pick NYC over Seattle.....every time.

well...i guess he misses london that much. he said he's not going back to england.

so why not another city that rains nonstop?

ok, on a serious note...i wouldn't be surprised to see him play in the mls at some point. he's even said he'd like to at one point. but this seems like it's all speculation. where are the quotes?

Seattle has two Hollywood owners: Drew Carey and movie mogul Joe Roth. Carey is a Barca follower, and Joe Roth is ready with a $25 million movie contract for any star that wants to play for Seattle.

On the streets in town, I've got at least one credible source that says Seattle has been talking to Henry on and off since January.

I thought Joe Roth's production house closed after he ran it into the ground? I just looked at his resume, besides producing he also directed some absolutely horrible movies. Revenge of the Nerds 2 was the highlight of his directorial career. What a hack. But having the star of "The Price is Right" on board has got to give the club some cachet.

This whole thing actually made the BBC Rumor pages yesterday. Something about they'll pay him 150,000 pounds a week.

I thought Paul Allen was supposed to get involved somehow.
