As summer winds down, what is everyone looking forward to this fall? More importantly, what is worth looking forward to?
I have to admit, I've been a less than inspired moviegoer this year. I can't tell if I'm just sick of it all or what. I need some tonic.
I think Lost in Translation looks interesting. I thought Sofia Coppola's Virgin Suicides was a pretty good first effort. If people would just manage to forgive her for having her father and for screwing up Godfather III, they might recognize that she seems to have some talent and, more importantly, a good eye for interesting stories.
I saw a trailer for Kill Bill last year and thought it was possibly, no probably, the best trailer I had ever seen. When it comes to Quentin Tarantino, I usually regard him less as genius and more as thief. But his spirited love of the cinema really came blindingly through in those two minutes. IT really made me excited for the film.
