Time to mourn a soccer legend.

Anyone want to guess what this has to do with movies? Hint: think German cinema.

Have you seen this film?
I have a 1980s documentary (in Hungarian, natch) of the 1950s Hungarian "Golden Team" that lost to W Germany in the 1954 final. Rahn appears in that too. Like the SI article, it points out how much it meant to Germany to win.

Wow, I hadn't heard of that. Thanks for the link. I'll definitely keep an eye out for that. It's unlikely to come near me in theatrical release (doesn't have the babe-factor going that kept Bend it Like Beckham around so long), but I'll watch out for video/DVD
Anyone going to make any guesses on the EARLIER (;)) German movie in which Rahn's match-winning goal sort of makes a cameo?

Anyone else want to take a shot at the trivia question? The scene in question comes at an "explosive" moment at the end of a very famous German film.
But more important than the trivia question and a better reason for the BUMP is the link to the new film Labdurago provides. Our more metropolitan posters would probably have a decent chance of seeing that one.

Fassbinder's "The Marriage of Maria Braun" ends with the call of Germany winning the '54 World Cup in which Rahn scored the winner.
And I thank you.
