Its official, he has signed.

If he gets back to where he was with PSV, he's an amazing capture on a free. Apparently he's not match fit yet, but we shall see how fast the physios can get him ready.

We need him. Our Mid-Field has been pathetic.

To bad it was not 2 games ago or we might be talking about Europe...

Economically , a very smooth move. Why pay transfer feee lets just pay the player. I know we are not a big money team so makes lots of sense.

You can't pass up on someone like that on a free. He was very good, not so sure about now, but with the midfield we've got we can't really go wrong with this move.

Might not make much of an impact this season though, until he gets fit and used to the change in pace. Just think of Oojer, stand there looking startled for a few months. At least every mistake won't lead to a goal in his position though.

But yeah, in general, you can't go wrong with him on a free.

Vogel is a solid midfielder.
On a free, its a great signing and the kind of player in the past Mark Hughes has made into top class prem players (See Bentley, Bellamy, McCarthy, Santa Cruz) players who have came to the Rovers and either re-invigorated or straight made their careers!

As an EPL follower, in terms of success with limited resources, Mark Hughes is a an absolute wonder! Blackburn have a great manager for their team!

Say what you will about Sav, but he truly invigorated and motivated the team. I really don't care if he can only handle 60 minutes these days (due to fitness) on a top 10 team like Rovers, because his effort and desire always surpassed that of his team mates.

And, you have to respect a player who leaves us because he WANTS TO PLAY ANYWHERE (including DERBY). Since Hughes could not guarantee Sav playing time, he left -- with class and with everyone's blessing.

We have a big gap in the middle and our defence is not to standard this season. This truly makes me wonder if the lack of Sav as an aggravator in the center is what has been messing up our defence this season.

Well, it is imminent that Derby is going down, and thus Sav will be out of contract. Perhaps Hughes will bring him back, with certain stipulations in his contract about fitness, performance and whatnot, and naturally no transfer fee. For all we know, there may be a gentlemen's agreement to this effect already, between Hughes and Sav. Surely both Sav and Hughes knew that Derby would be going down. Maybe Sav's move to Derby was considered to be more of a "loan" whereby our club would be relieved of Sav's salary, and get a nice transfer fee in the process? I imagine that this would be the sort of deal would be preferable to egos, rather than sending a veteran like Sav out "on loan" like an inexperienced rookie.

Forgot to say on the Spuds thread but I thought Vogel had a very decent debut. Should be excellent for next season if that's a anything to go off.

All depends who remains at the club, and who we bring in next season. We certainly need to strengthen. We haven't got adequate strength in depth at the moment, in my opinion, so new players, and hanging onto the good ones whilst ridding ourselves of poo, are key to any success we may want to achieve in 2009.
