View Full Version : Will the field (sorry, "pitch") be messed up?

There was a mention in the Post's Style section this morning about Russell Crowe performing this weekend at some ShamrockFest Celtic music festival.
Anyone know anything about that? Was it inside RFK? Was it in the parking lots? Was it on the auxiliary fields?
Anyone know anything about the state of our field?
Also, does anyone know for certain whether it has been moved back roughly 15 yards east to its pre-Nationals-stadium-share configuration?

The Shamrock Festival was held in Lot 8.
As for the field, I asked Coach Soehn about it yesterday at the SE Annual Meeting and he said its great. No more bizarre baseball-related bad hops or hills.
And the "field shift" question was posed to KP during the Q&A session yesterday. The field is basically in the same place as it was last season. The "hole" where the cheap seats used to be is going to be used as a hospitality area.
More proof that people should attend the SE Annual Meeting to have all their questions answered :) More answers can be found on this thread (http://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=669769).

No need to be sory ;) this is America it's called:
-a field, not a pitch
-a uniform, not a kit
-cleats, not boots
-zero, not nil
-soccer, not football or futbol
I heard FSC anouncers (i know that's an oxymoron) talking about DC United and their play of football.......ARGH!...it's soccer, we're Americans. Do we queue up to get into the stadium too?
As far as the field, I have no idea. I've been too busy at the pub, getting pints, meatpies and fish & chips out here in NoVA land.:p

Well, I must knock up Vladsta tomorrow and use the lorry to get to Tailgate where righteous bangers will be roasted! :)
In a country where nouns regularly become verbs (impact ring a bell?), yourself has no legs on which to stand, irregardless of your well-intended but anglo-phobic comments. So there! :D

Only if you're an Anglophile like Christian Miles. Actually, I don't know if he's an Anglophile or just incapable of coming up with phrases and sentences on his own.
What American says "he struck it ever so well" or "he plays his footy in Denmark/Sweden/wherever"?
Oh, and Christian, in this country, we call a first-year player a 'rookie' not a 'debutante'

I asked that question, and I can't say I liked the answer. My seat used to be directly on the midfield stripe. I'm hoping the field (sorry, 'pitch') wasn't moved because a new stadium is in the works. That's what I'm going to hang my hat on.

Unless I missed it I don't think they've done anything to the field since the redo they did before the playoffs last year (right?) I thought they did move things back they way they were before baseball.
Oh and the field is fine from Sat, lot 8 however could be downright disgusting.

No, they didn't. My left elbow used to be exactly on midfield until the Nats moved in. Now the last of my season tickets (four seats down the row) is on midfield.

And give up the beautiful aisle seat where I have sat since the Inaugural match in 1996?
Perish the thought.

Uh, I'm not sure you know what "fanny" means in Old Blighty.
Uh, I'm not sure you know what "fanny" means in Old Blighty.
I think I know exactly what it means, and how I meant to use it.
Here's a hint that I do know what it means - I have one, Landon Donovan has one, and Ben Olsen does not.
You really shouldn't underestimate my level of Anglophilia. ;)
