Now that we have seen the new shirts without stripes in action, at least on TV, its time we took a collection to become the shirt sponsor and bring back the stripes. Those plain black shirts were, well plain and black.
And I though the goalie shirt made Wells look like he was ready for bed.

Simple is beautiful!
I do think they should bring back the red shorts for both the black and the white tops. Make it a little more colorful. I think the black shorts with the extra long adidas stripes on the side looked horrible with the black tops. JMHO.

Unfortunately, because of the need for a sponsor and Adidas' complete inability to produce new jerseys in a reasonable length of time, we're stuck with the no-stripes look this year.
Can we begin an effort to get MLS to change those horrendously ugly uniform numbers, though?

Agreed!

would a useful approach be to write to adidas and ask them to pay extra to become the "shirt sponsor" (and not just the uniform maker) for DC United.

adidas
would look great on the front of the shirt

The new one looks fine to me.
Plus, I heard somewhere that Verizon were thinking of doing a sponsorship deal - and then you'd have the door open to players shouting to each other "can you hear me now?" before they make passes...

I was thinking last night I like them better. The old ones always reminded me of one of those skeleton Halloween costumes you can get for your kids.

I know it's unrealistic, but....how cool would it be to have a supporter's group or the supporters in general as the shirt sponsor?

Now there's an idea.
How much money are we really talking here?
Oh come on you "I like the new ones better guys." The new jerseys look absurdly plain without a sponsorship. They'll look fine when there's a sponsor, but for right now they look like shirts designed for (but missing) a sponsor's logo. They are and look incomplete.

They actually look like training shirts to me.
I think they'll look much better (more complete) with a sponsor logo, but it's nothing I'll lose sleep over.

The current shirts, lacking a sponsor, are worse than the shirts with the stripes. If this was the end-point, then yes, that'd be bad. But I think this is an intermediate step and the right comparison is between the old shirt vs the new shirt with a logo (coming soon).
No, check that. The comparison is between the old shirt vs the new shirt with a logo, plus millions and millions of dollars of sponsorship money. On pure aesthetics, I'll take the old shirt. But I'm happy to give up some aesthetics in exchange for money that our FO will spend on players.
Keep this in mind: Shirt sponsors = DP's.

Sorry, I'm a minimalist.

I just think they look better. I wouldn't mind seeing a jersey that's completely black apart from just the logo, name and number.
