Jamil Walker was waived today.
Seemed like a great guy and he showed real courage fighting back from that achilles injury.
Here's wishing him good luck in catching on somewhere else.

good luck to Jamil, class act. Hope he has a great future in the game (or out), in whatever capacity he chooses.

Like I said earlier in the roster thread: bummed. His smile has always made me smile. I don't know what contribution he would have made to the team, but I'll miss him all the same.

Jamil is one of the 'good guys', hopefully he keeps at it, and you never know, he could follow the Domenic Mediate path back to the team.

Does this make it any more or less likely that Cezar is signed?

This has to make Cezar's signing more likely.
Very sad to hear about Jamil. It always seems more cruel when a player gets cut after a bad injury (I'm not blaming the team, just fate).
Always a classy guy and always seemed to have a smile on his face. Best wishes in soccer or whatever else life sends his way.

Best wishes to a hard-working player who very much seems to be a good guy.

Too bad, he showed a great deal of heart trying to come back from an Achillies' injury. Hope he can catch on elsewhere, if not, best of luck to him in the rest of life. I still remember Goff's description of Walker's goal against Harbour View in "05 on an assist from Guppy. It went something like this - "A cross from a player unwanted in an entire country was put in the goal by a player unwanted in an entire league."

I'll add my internet nuts 2¢ to the well wishes for Jamil Walker. He did so much to be the public face for United while he was out injured and recovering, and before that as well. Many, many appearances in the city.
Thank you for your work for United, and best of luck in your career, Jamil. I hope you do continue playing, if not in MLS, then in USL.

He's a straight up guy. Very friendly, very humble.
I hope he does well wherever he goes.
This picture was taken during the reserve match vs. Columbus - the one where we captured the inaugural Reserve League Championship.

Best wishes for the future, Jamil.
I bet he'll be back in MLS, sooner or later. I like what Bootsy said about Jamil's smile -- he always seemed so poised and so cool in success.

Yet another of my favorites bites the dust. From now on, I'm buying jerseys with no names in the back.. F'n jinx.....
Take care Jamil, you will be missed. I'm sure someone will sign him soon.

He'll certainly be missed. He's a good guy with good skills - here's to hoping he finds himself on another MLS side soon. Best of luck #23.

The only DCU player I have met to date, and he really was a remarkable guy. Will never forget the goal he scored in OT against CLB during last years USOC. Great guy sad to see him go.

I'll miss the guy. He was one player you could always count on to give his best every second he was on the field. Hopefully he can pull a Mediate and wind up back with the team at some point.
I don't know how much the injury effected him, but it often takes 18+ months to fully recover from any major ligament or tendon injury, even as long as 2 years for a lot of athletes. Guys can play a lot of the time after 9 months, but it takes longer to regain all their explosiveness.
If he was close to fully recovered and we still let him go, the other forwards on the roster must be looking awfully good. I didn't think any of the other backup forwards we trotted out there last year were as good as Walker.
