how many away fans will we get to Philly? Not just supporter groups, but all around the stadium?

Give your estimates.

I don't know what to expect, but 2000 would be nice.

Depends on if it is like a US-Mexico match and the Philly supporters take off their Philly colors to reveal Black & Red when United wins...

2000 away fan sounds extremely optimistic.

500-600 tops.

Depends...if we only play there once a season, and it's on a weekend, it will be a pretty big number - say, 500-600. Probably not 2,000 - other than MLS Cups '96 and '99, we've never traveled with anything like that number, so I wouldn't expect that to change overnight (props to TFC fans for the numbers they're taking to Columbus, btw...credit where it's due). If, on the other hand, they put the game on a weeknight, you're probably looking at more like 200-250 (about 2-3 times what we get for weeknight games at the Swamp).

I'm just waiting for the first United match at Red Bull Park. I think we'll have thousands there. Awaydays are a tradition that needs to get bigger - nothing better. Maybe the club could help by providing transportation, like many clubs around the world.

Heck, if United's in someplace like KC, and Philadelphia has a home game, I'd likely go just for the cheesesteaks.

Cheesesteaks got nothing on the Philly Roast Pork Italian...those are some of the best damn sandwiches in the world.

Per the writeup in the Washington Post last weekend...

I might have to make a trip just to try one.

This is turning into a highly fashionable debate...

While I totally agree that roast pork sandwiches are excellent, especially Tony Luke's, does it really require dissing the venerable cheesesteak?? Can't we all just get along ;)

When Philadelphia joins the league..

... They'll be another team I'm extremely jealous of for getting their own stadium before us

btw - Does the Chinatown bus stop in Philly anywhere near to Chester?

When i said 2000, that was more of what i feel it should be, but realistically for the first couple years, i think 500+ is do-able. The amount of dc fans from Baltimore and south of Philly will help the cause, depending on how many people switch to become Philadelphia supporters.

Philly will be closer than DC for me but I will not become a Philly supporter. Philly is a toilet.

I'll be there in all black.
