As you can see in the previous posts we agree with you on that one Keith, but that shouldn't stop us from giving him credit on the days he's deserved it.

And Leverkusen lost today, so we remain in the Uefa Cup spots :)
Now bring on the last 3 games!

How has hitzlsperger been this season? Poor form and injured as well? Good form but injured at the wrong times?
I am trying to get an estimate of him for the euros...

I didn't say you couldn't give him credit. But read the post I was responding to. "benztown" implied that Basturk's performance proved him "wrong."
It did not. Basturk just finally showed what he can do from time to time.
Remember, before the year, I said he wouldn't "suck" for you guys, but he wouldn't be nearly worth 3M per season.
And actually, I think I was wrong. He has sucked or been out injured for the most part.
Even though we suck badly in Dortmund, I'm glad you guys kept us from getting that guy.......

Kicker didn't have much today. I found most of the info myself.

Obviously, I wasn't being all too serious. Maybe the "proved me wrong" part was a little bit too much. Of course one good game doesn't make up a season of disappointments.
It was just that as soon as I said something drastic, he performed. Which happened several times this season. For example, when I said how little I thought of Rolfes, he scored twice in the next game (against Stuttgart of all teams).
I still think that Bastürk was a big disappointment over all.

I still think that Bastürk was a big disappointment over all.
And now he'll have a hat-trick tomorrow in his home area against my sorry BVB. :D

In my opinion he was our best player of the first half of the season.
Since the winter break he hasn't been as good, had a few disappointing games, but has still been solid on the whole, besides the minor injuries of course. But he's now back in training, could play against Dortmund, and should be ready for the euros.
And in my opinion he honestly is good enough to start for the German NT.

Thanks, I enjoyed the post :)
I can't say i'm as confident as you think I should be, regardless whether they're playing a bad season or not, I never go to Dortmund expecting us to take three points.
I agree we did play an excellent match this weekend, however we've been once again playing much better at home as of late than away from home.
Our recent home games:
Hansa Rostock: 4-1
Hamburg: 1-0
Nuernberg: 3-0
Frankfurt: 4-1
Away games:
Bochum: 1-1
Hannover: 0-0
Leverkusen: 0-3
Bayern: 1-4
So we've seemed much poorer away from home, almost as if we're two separate teams, so to be honest i'll probably be satisfied if we take a point from Dortmund. We're 3 points ahead of Leverkusen, and a draw would allow us to maintain fifth place through this matchday regardless of their result, so a point for me is the minimum aim.
Of course I hope the boys will be able to go one further and carry home an away win, but I also haven't forgotten when you ended our 5-game winning streak by beating us in our own stadium in the Hinrunde. So we'll see.
Boka, after his excellent performance this weekend, does deserve to maintain the starting spot for this game even if Magnin is fit enough, Meira should be back from injury and if he is i'd like to see him replace Tasci, although he may not be fit for the full 90 minutes yet, in which case i'd keep Tasci as the starter. Hitz should be back from injury but to be honest I see no reason to replace da Silva atm, who's generally played convincingly in the last rounds, so i'd keep Hitz for a cameo-sub performance at most. But we'll see.

Dude, our guys are playing like S#IT! Some of them seem to have packed it in for this season and are waiting to see who the new coach will be.
If you guys don't win easily, I'll be completely shocked......

Seems we don't want to talk too much about Hitz at the moment. ;)
As VfBstuttgartfan already said his performance got worse before his last injury.
His defensive workrate sucked and we are actually better of with da Silva for now.
Of course that might just mean he goes into the Euros rested and over the
whole session I still rate him highly. His first two times he was out injured
corresponds to the two big crisis of VfB last year.
Given that Schneider is out Hilbert could be a candidate for the Euros.
He did have a bad session (played too many games IMO + injury) but he is
still our most dangerous midfielder with 7 assists and 4 goals. And he played
very well against Frankfurt last Saturday.

I agree with Vfbstuttgartfan. Hitz was our best player during the first half of the season. After the break he didn't stand out as much which also had a lot to do with the fact that the rest of the team seemed to finally get a hold of themselves.

1-0 HT with BVB playing much better... do people see now why I was so skeptical about this match due to our away form??
I have trouble seeing us get a point atm :(

You guys had the ball more at the beginning but slowly allowed BVB back into the game and eventually sucumbed to the preasure.
When Stuttgart are on top of their game, they can play some wonderful football, but so far the service to Gomez and Cacau hasn't been too good and the midfield hasn't taken proper control of the game.

3-2 now Gomez just scored! Gives hope! But I just don't see us getting the equalizer in the last 5 minutes, it looks like another shit away result, as we have come to expect...

And I was right. I'll post later, i'm just too pissed off at this sides pathetic away form for the moment.

I thought this game should have ended as a draw to be fair. Some lapse defending cost you in the end, Stuttgart obviously has the better quality team.
BTW, why did Hitz play so deep when he came on? He almost scored the equalizer in the end by pushing up, he should have done that from the beginning.
And Super Mario continues to own everyone.
