Yeah, as far as I know, it is.
Do you think we'll see Hilbert play predominantly as a RM or RB this upcoming season?

RM. Osorio will play RD when fit.

I hope you're right benztown, but Hilbert has been playing at right back for most of the friendlies, and will prolly play there in the Intertoto Cup matches aswell, and if we don't buy a new rightback, then that'll leave Osorio as the only other option for RB, and if he's out of form then we may see Hilbert play regularly as RB next season.
But I hope we don't. He is, imo, much much better in midfield.

I think you're right...;)
Btw: What's your first impression of Martin Lanig?

Same here...but what about Tasci? He wasn't too bad as RB, was he?

I don't think they'd want to rely on him too much out their, would they? Nando isn't getting any younger in the center of defense. I guess he is still only 30, not ancient for the position, but he might also look to make one more money movie before calling it a day on his career, so I don't think they want to invest too much in Serdar as a RB when his future with the club probably ultimately lies in a more central role.

He's been pleasantly surprising so far, has played well in all the friendlies, judging by the highlights i've seen, so that's good. Obviously these are all meaningless games against amateur teams, so they don't count for all that much and it's easy to impress against them, but nevertheless Lanig has done well so far.
I dunno whether i'd start him at the moment, i'd say there's a good chance that he may start in one of the Intertoto games, and if he does well in those, well, he could become a regular.
Either way his performances have been encouraging so far. :)

Article on Stuttgart and the current transfer speculations:
- Pardo received an offer from America(the club) that is really good for him, and he sort of wants to leave since it's a really good offer. But VfB obviously doesn't want to let him go, he's go a contract lasting for the coming season and it seems unlikely that'll be prolonged, though it might. Either way i'm not too worried, I don't think they'll give Pardo away for this season.
- Meira may still want to leave, though it's unclear - Heldt says he hasn't told him about anything and that they have received no offers for Meira. So it looks more and more likely he will stay.
- Friedrich is apparently being seen more as a potential replacement if Meira did indeed leave, not as a strong addition for the RB spot. Which I think is crap. He'd be really useful on the right side of our defense and I would want us to get him regardless of whether Meira stays. :(
- VfB have made a loan option proposal to Boateng, who has yet to respond. So on that front, there is little new to report but I (believe) the ball is in Boateng's/Spurs's court.

Meira is also no longer team captain. Not soon enough in my opinion. I hope Hitz gets it now.

That doesn't sound bad. ;)
I don't think he'll be a regular starter for you this season ... but I'm sure he'll get his playing time!
Martin has got a powerful shot, good header qualities, a strong physical shape and considerable skills (he was called the "Ballack of the 2nd league"). His only weakness is the fact that he's fickle & phlegmatic sometimes...
Before he left Fürth, I told him at the season party to tell nice greets to Roberto. Hopefully he has done it. ;)

I think this UI Cup match could be tough...Russian teams are not to be taken lightly, especially not without some of the best players.

Saturn is also trying to buy Ivan Saenko too.

Hey guys,
Am in Hungary currently and probably won't be able to get online too much in the next week.
I think Veh did the right thing in taking the captain's armband away from Marica. For a number of reasons: 1. He never seemed like a natural leader anyway. 2. He's constantly suggested wanting to move to a 'bigger' club, and is doing it again this season 3. Has been anything besides a model professional this season with his multiple red cards, almost all liked to behaviour issues.
I still hope he stays with us, :) but it was about time to change captain. Out of the possible successors, i'd be happy with any of Hitzlsperger, Lehmann or Gomez(the fact he's even a candidate for me serves as final confirmation, if we still needed it, that Super Mario is staying with us another year). Lehmann I wouldn't pick since he has no connection to the squad yet, I think my choice would be Hitz, as I can also see him being a captain for the longterm, and not just for 1-2 years(max.) like Gomez would.
In other news, in our latest, and most competitive friendly so far, we managed to beat Augsburg 4-1.
Marica, playing in his first friendly for us since returning from summer break, scored a hat trick - let's hope this is the first step towards him playing a season in which he actually lives to the bill of being VfB's most expensive player ever... I now hope he can start against Saturn. Our other goal was scored by Simak :)
Here's the team that played:
Stolz (46. Ulreich) - Hilbert, Tasci (78. R. Schuster), Delpierre (46. Rudy), Boka (46. Träsch) - Bastürk (70. Morys), Lanig (46. Mandjeck), Simak (46. Pardo), Khedira - Cacau (46. Marica), Ljuboja (62. Fischer)
And finally, we've sold all the 25 000 season tickets that were on sale.

I am pretty excited about this season, I think this can be the season that we finally mature, we had the break through season, then the let down season, so really there arent that great of expectations, one question, when do the german internationals return? its only a month before the season starts and we already have two important matches coming up this weekend and next. I also think hitz should be captain, he is prob one of the most consistent players and can lead them well. I will be attending the intertoto game in stuttgart, very excited- hopefully it will be a good one,

Great thoughts and welcome! Congrats on getting to that match! I hope it will be a great one for you and VfB too!

Right on. Saturn went up 1-0 after three minutes. In my opinion, the goal was due to crappy defending on the play. Overall, so far, I think VfB is doing all right.
VfB had a Cacau goal disallowed for offside in the 13th minute.
The match is currently in the 25th minute with Saturn still up 1-0.
Ljuboja just saw a yellow in the 25th minute.
According to kicker.de, this is the VfB Lineup:
-----------------------------------Stolz-----------------------------------------------
Hilbert-------------------Taci------------------------Delpierre------------------Boka---
------------------------------------Pardo---------------------------------------------
-----------Khedira---------------------------------------------------Basturk----------
------------------------------------Simak---------------------------------------------
-----------------Cacau---------------------------------Ljuboja-----------------------

2nd half underway. Marica replaced Ljuboja at halftime.
50th minute right now. Still 1-0 Saturn.
And I think the damned DSF announcers are talking more about Meira possibly moving to Galatasaray and "The Cannibal" coming in to replace him more than they are about the match.

CONTROVERSIAL MOMENT IN THE MATCH!! In the 55th minute, Marica had rounded the keeper and only Saturn defender Zelao stood between him and the open net.
Marica shot and the ball while Zelao went down for the block.
The ball appeared get under Zelao and hit his hand before dying, allowing another Saturn player to clear the ball.
Of course, the DSF announcer called for the penalty, but on the replay, I could not really tell, not only if the ball hit Zelao's hand or not, but if there was any intent to keep the ball out with the hand.
59th minute now. IMO, VfB has had the better of the match in the second half, but still hasn't been able to score.

66th minute: Lanig in for an ineffective Basturk.
