Another sad loss for German soccer in the same night: Lothar Emmerich died.

"Emma" was one of the most famous players of Borussia Dortmund ever and part of their championship team of the early Sixties. His most famous matches were in 1966, when Borussia Dortmund was the first German team to ever win a European Cup and Germany reached the legendary final against England in the World Cup, both with Emmerich in the team.

He was twice Torschützenkönig of the Bundesliga (1966 and 1967). His most famous goal was against Spain at the World Cup 66, when he scored from an angle which everybody unanimously regarded as impossible (quite as impossible as the curve of that Roberto Carlos freekick in 97), but his shot from the left groundline into the upper right corner with his left foot was in, anyway.
