Liverpool FC & Borussia MG
Eine ganz besondere Freundschaft
A very special Friendship

2008 Liverpool FC supporters Friendship trip to
visit our friends in Moenchengladbach

I am organising another Friendship trip to visit our friends from Borussia Moenchengladbach. The 2008 Liverpool FC supporters Friendship visit to Gladbach will be from Friday 9 May 2008 to Monday 12 May 2008, match day is Sunday 11 May 2008, Borussia Moenchengladbach versus FC Freiburg, tickets for all travelling Liverpool FC supporters, like last year are guaranteed.

The 2008 friendship trip will involve an all day Fan Party on match day at the Borussia "FanHaus", guaranteed match tickets for Borussia's last home match of the 2007/2008 season, versus FC Freiburg. This game is already sold out and is guaranteeed a 54000 full house, and with Borussia Moenchengladbach currently top of the German Bundesliga 2 table it could coincide with a massive promotion party!!

A meeting with ex-Liverpool player and now "Sporting Direktor" of Borussia Moenchengladbach Christian Ziege. Also a free stadium tour of the new impressive 54000 capacity Borussia Park stadium is on the agenda, and a pub crawl and meal with our Gladbach friends in the famous Moenchengladbach Alt Stadt (Old Town).
Any Liverpool supporters who wish to join me on the Friendship visit should contact me via my Email address (grahamlfc@aol.com) for further information.

To see a video of our Friendship trip last year when 5 Liverpool supporters, me included unveiled our friendship flag on the Borussia Park pitch just 20 minutes before kick off of Borussia's last home match of the 2006/2007 season, please click on the link below:-

Our friendships Liverpool FC:
The 'friendship' between Borussia Mönchengladbach and LFC has its official roots in the Hillsborough disaster nearly a decade ago. In June 1991 BMG fan clubs organised a series of events that raised 21,000 DM for the disaster fund, the cash being presented to Trevor Hicks, Ron Yeats an ex-director Sid Moss. We are proud of the fact that we are the first and only German supporters club to be united with Liverpool under the banner "You'll never walk alone". A year later, in August '92, 100 BMG fans visited Merseyside to pay their respects at the Hillsborough Memorial and stand on the Spion Kop. These visits usually coincided with fans' football games vs. the ISC or other Supporters Clubs. In 1994 we again made the lengthy trek to Anfield despite having no matches organised to show we want to build the friendship high and to party with our friends from the ISC. Just remember our visit in the pouring rain for draw with QPR. We brought 150 fans with us. In July 1995 the pre-season tournament in Mönchengladbach meant that the Reds could travel over to Germany and savour our hospitality. In the pubs and bars of Mönchengladbach the supporters of both teams were twinned in a big party. Now, we have been visited by the Reds several times. And still there is a friendship between us. Many 'Borussen' stand with Liverpool shirts and scarves in the 'Nordkurve' our stand. Join us, you will see!

Just a couple of thoughts on points needed for promotion. I did some analysis of the remaining schedule for the teams left in the hunt. Basically, what it comes down to is that if all teams play their best, the most points the third placed team (not counting BMG) could get is 61. This factors in the fact that Cologne plays both Hoffenheim and Mainz (there are different scenarios depending on if Cologne wins both of those games, loses one, or loses both). Therefore, BMG needs 4 points to assure promotion (given their good goal differential) from the final four matches. Of course, draws amongst the top teams can only help, and a win for BMG this weekend combined with a Cologne loss pretty much assures BMG of promotion.

BTW whats up with this rowel browers guy?? his slow and dangerous on 1-on-1 battles...specially in the penalty area you always feel like his going to hand over a penalty kick due to his lack of speed which forces him to get physical..is he our best player in that area??? if so god help us!

His name is Roel Brouwers. ;)

You're right, he's pretty slow (in contrast to Steve Gohouri) ... but his header qualities & strength in duels are remarkable! He & Thomas Kleine (very similar player) were the best 2nd league defenders of the last seasons.

Btw: I think we'll sign a decent CB & a right FB for next season.

@ Luckie

Thanx for posting. Damn, that would be a great promotion party with our Liverpool friends...;)

That's true. However, I don't think it will be the case...

Nearby it's always a bigger joy to secure promotion at home! ;) I'd like to see it happen against Freiburg, so we can celebrate together with our Liverpool guests.

Have a nice day.

I was in the Olympic Stadium that day (on a field trip to Berlin) watching Kevin Keegan's HSV go up vs Hertha BSC Berlin (who had two players who would transfer at the end of the season to Chicago Sting of the NASL--one was Karl-Heinz Granitza who was third leading scorer in the BL that year). Some of the nearby fans were following the game on the radio--and everythime BMG scored you would hear a louder and louder noise from the crowd as word spread (along with many cries of "Unmoeglich!")....

Have you ever seen the Video from the legend 7:1 against Inter Mailand at 1971? I think that they´ve played at this time the best soccer all over the world.

PS.:
Could there be a little chance to become Michael Bradley under contract for the "Fohlen" ? :D ;)

I was at the Rhein Stadium. It was unbelievable and the men with the radio's was the kings too. By every goal at the match St. Pauly against K*ln you got only information from the radio. But at least it was only a big happening .

One of our best performances was against REAL MADRID(5-1) at Rhine Stadium in dusseldorf (EUFA CUP 1.LEG/ 27.11.1985) Never seen such attackiNg style from the fohls..so fluid solid and mobile....and packed with instant attacking in the first few minutes and onwards (remember Uli borowka firing a missile about 40-50 meters just missing the horizontal bar by an inch or 2 in the first few minutes)....i think it was even better than the milan game

I didn't know if is was better. But the Milan game was like David against Goliath. Nobody had knew Borussia and by Milan was a team of world stars. And the 7:1 is was like today Getafe beats Chelsea 7:1. That is the point and all player like Netzer,Voigt and so an said is was the best Game ever from Borussia.

Different opinions are valid and respected, but if you like to talk goliath..no team in the 80s was as goliath of a team as real-madrid specially specially when they played gladbach..we only had "Frank-mill" and "Bruns" and "frontzeck" on the national german team(as subs only and on rare occasions)...the milan game was great but half the german national team(almost) was playing for gladbach at the time and not as subs but as first team! thats why i think that game had a special touch to it....end of the game Jupp our coach at the time even made a comment that over 90s we played above the current football standards of the world..in any event each to their own...i used to have that game on VHS i wish i still had it so i could post it...it was mind blowing trust me:eek:
